The most needed improvement to make this game worth.

64-bits version
Multicore support
DX11 support

I'm really tired of this game because my i7 3770k at 4.4 GHz, DDR3 2133Mhz, and a GTX 760 at 1202 MHz can't run this game above 20 FPS in populated area of Velika. So, i don't think this game worth my money.

Is not worth to spend a penny in this game until this improvement come to the game.

  • Not bothering to find and post my specs but i have lower specs than you and my game runs better by far, locked in at 60-80fps at most places, velika however 30-40 fps but what can help is fixing your s1 engine to your liking, if you need i can send a link

That usually only helps low end machines (if at all). My lowest fps in towns is 40, but that's with more than one game running, otherwise it's usually 80~100. The issue starts when in-combat. It is normally 30 but sometimes 5~20. However, even if It was 30 mostly, that's still unacceptable given the hardware my desktop has. Performance issues are one of the things that honestly do hold back the game for more than one reason. Westerners do take graphics and performance seriously. In addition to the fact fps problems cause similar problems that high ping would cause such as serious desync issues in addition to the drawbacks low fps already come with. As I've said in the past, the other issue is one of Tera's main selling points was how visually appealing the game is, but when most people have to run it on low, where the game looks lifeless, that selling point is lost.

First lets keep in mind tera was built for intel/nvidia. so before anyone else posts here, if you are running an amd/radeon system the game is going to run like [filtered] no matter what you do until you switch to intel/nvidia. Secondly lets keep in mind tera is one of the heaviest single-threading cpu intensives games on the market, this means even the best i7 cpu is going to be out-preformed by an i5 because the i5 is better equipped for single-thread usage compared to the i7s with their hyper-threading builds. Another thing to consider is that having tera installed to an SSD rather than a traditional HDD makes a world of difference in loading screen times as well as overall game smoothness, when i made that change my average load in time went from about 2mins (from launcher to actual char loaded in) to about 20 seconds (again from launcher to actual char loaded in ).
Lastly fps can be limited by other factors besides internal hardware, Monitors for example can hinder fps quite a bit if not best suited for gaming/your tower. for example my fps has peaked as high as 160 on my current monitor which is decent but nothing really special, using a friends new predator series monitor with 144hz refresh, 1ms response and gsync enabled i was able to hit a 224 peak as well as gained a good big of average fps (fps normally in hw being anywhere from 40-80 went up just a bit to 50-90)

5000$ builds with big gpu's and the 'newest' cpu isnt what makes a pc run a game good, knowing how to accommodate both your build and the game to work together does.

all you need to run tera well is:
    i5 cpu
any nvidia card (tera is not gpu intensive so bigger isnt going to mean better, i personally run a gtx950 and consider that overkill)
minimum of 16gb ram (this one makes a world of difference as well, if you have less than 16gb ram don't expect smooth gameplay)
    Monitor that doesnt suck.
Optional* SSD (remember that you have to actually install tera onto the ssd, just having an ssd but with tera still slaved to HDD will not make any improvement on game)

edit: its worth mentioning my fps numbers are with game settings maxed.

This is not true, just disable hyperthreading in bios and overclock like i did, 4.4 GHz with hyperthreading disabled. Far better than i5...

Meanwhile, i just edited the S1Engine.ini file with (OneFrameThreadLag=True), and now, in populated area of Velika, i am getting 26 FPS and reduced drastically the stuttering, but it continue to happens.

The fact it, this game really need an 64-bit, multi thread support and DX11 to allow SLI.
  • I have fairly low end specs (i3 and gtx650-1gb) and it runs well on preset 3. I see no improvement from tampering with the files - on my machine anyway. Not amazing, but I don't expect 60 fps or anything. When I used to do things like Nexus or 20man raids I just turn it to preset 0 temporarily.

Not enough care or effort will come to revamping Tera to that extent since it isn't profitable to do so. The problem is people will complain about the fps and lag but will put up with it to play Elin dressup simulator. The amount of customers they'll lose to bad optimization is too few.
  • Elin dressup simulator.

This name is better than Tera. true story bro! :)
