well ok. few minutes of google search allowed me to figure out some things. yes, zayo offers ip services, fiber etc so eme isp uses zayo, this is clear now. but there are other companies in NA that offer same services. i found this article
    https://engineering.riotgames.com/news/fixing-internet-real-time-applications-part-ii
Level 3 and Cogent ip providers have been mentioned there. is it a thing? can eme at least change backbone provider to one of those? or is it too elaborated for them to take effort?

Contact your ISP if you want them to change backbone providers. Any tracert you run is only telling the story from your computer's point of view.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Traceroute
Traceroute works by sending packets with gradually increasing TTL value, starting with TTL value of one. The first router receives the packet, decrements the TTL value and drops the packet because it then has TTL value zero. The router sends an ICMP Time Exceeded message back to the source. The next set of packets are given a TTL value of two, so the first router forwards the packets, but the second router drops them and replies with ICMP Time Exceeded. Proceeding in this way, traceroute uses the returned ICMP Time Exceeded messages to build a list of routers that packets traverse, until the destination is reached and returns an ICMP Echo Reply message.[

So it only shows the outgoing path, not the return path. Your ISP controls the outgoing path, not EME's.

I live in Seattle Washington Same as EME so I get around 40 to 60ms Everyday. Infact I've never been above 100ms. I believe it does depend on location.

The game servers are in Chicago.

Spiking to 497 ping, but servers are stable :Kappa:
  • This is frustrating being told its just us, the implausibility...Servers still all over the place constantly without relent for me for 4 days straight. Even if your personal ISP has issues it lasts a few hours, tops. Lets hope this maint and servers being reset/down for a while does SOMETHING.
  • My Ping is normally 40-60 ish the last few days it has been bouncing from 150-350 making my archer unplayable!!!

Our Ops team has continued to monitor server stability and connectivity. There haven't been any blips since the 27th, and the authentication issue that was causing issues on the 27th was resolved. That would have mostly been disconnects, but some of you saw extreme lag (like 14,000+ms) when it was still trying to refresh and hadn't quite disconnected yet.

So again, as of right now things are stable. That's not to say everyone everywhere is 100%, because the road from your house to our servers in Chicago is a long one with lots of pit stops, but as far as our little corner of the internet and what we can monitor/control, things are working normally.

If you're still having trouble, feel free to comment. We don't want anyone to feel like we're totally disregarding you if you're experiencing lag spikes. There's just a good chance it's a snag in the pipeline that we can't monitor. We'll still look into it, though!

I used to live in Malaysia, and now I'm in the UK studying since the past week.

Since the triple drop event just about Castle Aranea launched, I've been experiencing rather terrible ping in Malaysia which hasn't fixed itself even after a month. Nothing has changed on my ISP since then (I've made a thread about it, sent a ticket but to no avail).

Now since I'm in the UK, I average 100~110 ping instead of ~300. When I play alone I do get occasional spikes to 300 (that was about the 24th of Sept), but no big deal. Dungeons etc were all fine.
However, since the 26/27th with the massive 3k++ ping event I started experiencing heavy ping spikes particularly in SS, even with WTFast (it helps quite a bit). Playing alone, doing IoD BAMs and DF are somewhat decent though.

    - What State or Region are you located in?
    UK Manchester
    - What Internet Server Provider do you use?
    JANET
    - When did you first notice the lag or disconnect problem?
    - What area(s) in TERA did you experience the problem?
In major areas like HW ch1, SS
    - What were you doing in-game when you lagged or disconnected?
Lagged real hard throughout the whole of SS, no matter what I was doing
    - Did you notice others in your party experience the same lag? Other guild members?
    Nope, not as of now
  • Even after whatever patch and a server maint these issues still persist on day 6 for me. I'm guessing over at EME you since you guys see nothing on your end, you all are probably hoping like we are hoping that it will just 'fix itself' in time but its just frustrating because people in guild, and myself have dramatically reduced activity because this is unplayable in anything besides "i can't possibly die" content, like cw or kc. Just like consumers would have to call up their respective ISPs for major issues, I think you all should probably consider getting some kind of investigation or support from your provider or zayo or what have you, that can possibly at least give a reason.

You can feel free to contact our Support Team and provide an EME Diagnostic (If you have not already done so).

Most commonly, it ends up being some Security Software or conflicting installed program that restricts but doesn't fully block the required connection between your computer and our servers.

Other times, it can be the specific path your connection is taking to our servers, which can be caused by an unforeseen Internet Data Center Outage along that path.

I am hesitant to enter the realm of ticketing since you all closed live chat for elite members and waiting days doesn't seem fun on top of the days I've already been waiting. For my own knowledge I have done the EME diag as you have said, and while I may not have 100% clarity on where each stop is, I believe it to be understood that it starts from me (at top) and traces along a route to get to your servers and if there are drops at your (zayo) end and not my (comcast) end then its not my end its over there, is that correct?

If the above is correct there are 2 points along the path where zayo loses 100% (2 hops after comcast network) followed by some loss thereafter, compared to 0% from my ISP's end.
