What is your definition of a 'casual player'?
Hello-
I just wanted to some Teranalysis for myself and i was wondering what everyone's definition of a 'casual player' is.
So far, my definition of a casual player is:
- Able to play everyday of the week
- Plays less than 3 hours a day
- Does not have Elite Status
- Prioritizes dungeons to play depending on: a) type of gear owned and its enchantment level, b) type of gear needed, c) time it takes to clear, and d) rewards given, respectively
- Uses materials earned in dungeons to gear up (enchant, masterwork, lock rerollable)
- Invests gold earned in material to: a) enchant, b) masterwork gear, c) change rerollable lines according to the current meta
- Able to use Reset Scrolls as necessary
- Completes as many dungeons as possible within 3 hours
- Takes advantages of quests in Story Quest for its rewards and materials (eg. Vanguard Initiative quest line for basic idoneal/dreadnaught gear)
- Does not purposefully invest time on achievements
- Primary goal at level 65 is to play all dungeons except the hardest dungeon in game (currently SSHM), and therefore fully gear to +12 Slaughter, excluding jewelry
- Has thoughts of obtaining BiS gear or some form of Visionmaker series gear; realization of this is not a focus of playing the game
This definition has nothing to with the skill level of the player
If i missed anything and/ or you disagree with some of the definitions that i proposed then please leave a comment and reason why
If you see yourself as a casual player and agree/disagree with my definition, please leave a comment- thanks!
Cheers,

less play time, maybe one or 2 runs per day IF that. may just be weekends when free time is available.
possibly elite because logging in once a day gets you loot and bonuses for when you do have time for longer play sessions.
If you fall into any of those categories I would consider you a casual player, not that it makes a difference. Casual players are generally (in my experience) more mature/older and nicer so it's always nice to have them around.
Being casual/hardcore is all about priorities.... in game and outside game...
Have you made physical contact with another human being today?
Have you been exposed to sunlight over the past week?
Did you get more then 4 hours of sleep last night?
Do you get up and go to the toilet instead of using a pee jar?
Do you regularly eat stuff that doesn't come in a plastic or foil bag for dinner?
Do you answer to a name other then whatever you named your main character as?
Have you stood upright from your elite gaming desk chair in the past 6 hours?
Are you aware of and able to differentiate something called "the real world"?
Have you found the time to read through all of these questions?
if you answered yes to any of these questions, then you are a casual!
This. I mean I play probably more hours then most players each day but the fact is I also do other things and I always let real life be my priority.
The basis of Casual is to play and have fun at a normal core, not hard core level. End game changes every few months, depending on time played, they may or may not reach end game level: +15 full set, some would be so lucky to have at the least a +15 weapon. Playing the HM dg is a hassle to some and just not worth the stress of learning (remember having fun is the goal) and not to be raging and stressing, not fun.
It's a matter of taste, some people can handle spicy foods (HM) others can't. Casuals go where the fun is. Which means cosmetics and ERPing.
agree with this
