People nearly set the world on fire over people being able to sell cash shop items on the broker in Black Desert Online, but you guys are okay with this?
Honestly, i think this is pretty much all of BHS's doing and EME probably cant say anything about it.
They seen how much people wanted these mounts so they decided to milk them dry.
And the reason why people are so fired up over bdos item selling is because Kakao is pretending the game is B2p while running an f2p cash shop and slowly adding p2w stuff in.
I mean if you look at the other versions of bdo wich are all f2p and then at NA/EU, do you see any difference?...because i sure as hell dont see any and the whole awakening is just one big milk pot being filled with one awakening at a time.
You should be able to get that passed super fast with BHS right? They'll listen and react instantly to the sweet sound of people whipping out the credit cards, as experience has taught.
They carry more weight than you realize given the playerbase they have. What's BHS going to do if EME pesters them? Force them to shut down and have another publisher pick it up? People would leave in droves if that happened, especially if it were Nexon or something.
EME and BHS are from the same shareholder Bluehole Inc
Not saying they dont, but considering they sayed the mounts would be obtainable by farming the tokens, why would they do something like this and anger their players if they had no intention of doing so in the first place ...doesnt make sense.
Then again god knows, all we can do is speculate.
If they were "equals," but they're not. EME's job is to publish TERA in North America on behalf of BHS, and BHS gets the final say. EME does have a seat at the table (which is why they're able to keep working with BHS on an agreeable compromise), but I don't think having all their work and planning thrown out at the last second would have happened if it had not been for someone with a lot of power/authority blocking the path. It's pretty instructive on how the hierarchy goes.
That puts the blame back on EME for not getting approval for their plan ahead of time.
Here is my guess, anyway. EME has said before that the way things are sold on the cash shop is within their jurisdiction as publishers, so my guess is that that their thinking/argument was that this was up to them (since these are cash shop items, and they were putting some on the store as very expensive lootboxes). They have also held back some cash shop items before to use as in-game rewards/prizes, so they probably thought there was precedent. But when someone found out that their marketing plan involved two of the dragons not being sold at all and only being offered as rewards in-game, they flipped out. It's probably also possible that they were fussing with the distribution method at the last second, so there wasn't enough time for all the necessary players at BHS to review it in advance (which could explain the comment about "lots of moving parts"). It doesn't help in this case that, even though something might theoretically be in their realm as publishers, their ultimate owners are BHS's parent company; the CEO is ultimately accountable to the Bluehole board. (Actually, it wouldn't surprise me if one of the board members noticed EME's plans on the website and/or Twitch stream and called the CEO. That would actually explain the whole thing; someone right over the heads of even the BHS reps, who could have approved it.)
But yeah, I imagine they got smacked up the side of the head now, and will be even more careful to vet everything through BHS from now on. Sometimes you only figure out where the line is after you get push-back.
At the end of the day, regardless of "fault," it's still EME's responsibility to make it right to their players.
"Nope, it still doesn't matter what you think. You're just a cash cow, you're not supposed to think"
Can you elaborate on the passive bug you're talking about? We're looking into a reported bug that interferes with Mystic buffs, but it doesn't have anything to do with the release of dragon mounts.
Originally, all dragons were meant to be released with the Guilded Age update, as mentioned on the Guilded Age update page. They were delayed. The delay largely had to do with the distribution of the Iron and Crimson versions. Ghost and Diamond were not affected. Rather than deny all players of getting the dragon mounts scheduled for Guilded Age, we felt it was best to release what we could. There are players out there who only wanted Diamond or Ghost mounts, and we felt releasing them was the right thing to do.
This is in no way an attempt to get people to buy Ghost/Diamond mounts when what they really want is Iron/Crimson, and we have not hidden the fact that Iron/Crimson are making their way to TERA. If you want Iron/Crimson dragons, GOOD! We want to release them because we think they're awesome too! And we will, but it's taking time to sort out the new plan in coordination with Bluehole.
