Why are slayers so bad :^) and what can they do to fix it?

I would like to see some opinions on the current state of slayer and thoughts on what buffs/nerfs slayers should get.

Comments

  • After fighting some very skilled slayers in Mount Tyrannus, "so bad" is an exaggeration in my opinion.
  • just give them a skill where they kill you in 1 hit.

    that will be enough.
  • Slayers can be incredibly good in 1v1s if played right but still seem to lack something against other classes. We have to play almost perfectly to compete against a geared/skilled reaper, brawler, archer(constant staggers interrupting us), berserker, and lancer with their amazing ability to [filtered] us. Our damage is also a bit off I feel. If you currently play slayer you know it high skill, low reward class.
  • Cool please. This is like the 10th thread on this subject :c.

But honestly they need a complete rework, atm they are too rng. Either they crit their whole combo and kill or they don't and they tickle. The thing that ruined slayer is the rising crit resist. If we don't crit consistently then we are far behind other classes who can use their utility to apply pressure.

If you want them to be strong, raise the innate crit chance on all their skills. They will be able to apply more pressure then.

Other than that, they have no reliable finisher. Most slayers position their measured slice as a combo finisher. It's a great skill, pretty big hit box for a melee, good damage if it crits, but even with a triple crit chance glyph it crits less than a sundering and far less than a haymaker. So not only does it crit less, it does less dmg because sundering and haymaker do more damage when the target has less damage. Add this to measured slice and it Still won't be as good as those skills.

Those are just 2 changes you can do to its current kit. There are dozens of things you can change that would be an improvement, bhs just hasn't focused on changing the correct aspects(LOL eblow duration increase? Ya okay).
  • Yea man im just salty, I want a rework and was curious on what others think about the topic. Q.Q
  • There is actually at least 4 threads in this though and they have some interesting ideas. I'd suggest searching for them c:
  • I think one of the main problems Slayers have is the fact that they're too predictable and the fact that classes such as Sorc, Reapers, Ninjas and Gunners (just to name a few) have plenty of utility to counter Slayers mobility and stuns, while Slayers just have Tenacity to save themselves from the inevitable, their long cooldowns doesn't do Slayers justice as I feel once your stun is on that 17 second cooldown, you're only left with a few practical abilities which tbh do little dmg if you dont crit.

I also feel like certain match ups if the opposition player is skilled makes the Slayer feel almost helpless, I've noticed against people who don't know Slayers kit well or are unskilled in general, get absolutely obliterated, swap that out with a skilled player with knowledge on Slayer.... Gl landing your abilities.

I guess if you think about it if someone who was unskilled played against another class they wouldn't get as obliterated compared to a Slayer if they fought against one, thats my point I am trying to make, but if its skilled player, it's funny how the tables turn dramatically, almost feels like the opposite.

Just my opinion and the 2 years I've experienced with Slayers in general
