What dungeon is the best start for doing 4 star dungeons?
I'm looking for advice as to which 4 star dungeon currently available I should learn first. I feel at least competent if not good at three star dungeons and I want to start learning a new one.
I can see a lot of factors could come into play here: reward vs. effort, difficulty on getting an IM team (I prefer not to subject LFG with my first attempts at any new dungeon), difficulty of the mechanics, fun...
Any input is welcome, especially for aspects I have not considered. Thanks in advance!

Do not IM, you will most likely be stuck at 1st mechanic of 1st boss with healer who is unable to get you up. Create/join LFG training/learning/etc run so no one will blame you for messing up. Or find a guild (you will eventually want one for new patch buffs anyways).
What class do you play? Some dungeons are harder for certain roles. ABHM is harsh for healers but easy for tanks, DFHM 1st boss is tricky for tanks, SS has 3 DPS check mechanics...
I think Manglemire isn't a bad choice for any class. Relatively short, has only 1 boss to learn, does not have 1-shot mechanics, does not require godly reflex or perfect iframes timing, gives you the possibility to res outside and return to battle. If you can pass stars you can pass the dungeon, unless someone wipe the whole party on single puddle.1 -

if you gonna IM, do it but keep in mind u will probably not finish the dg... try to learn as much as u can..
all 4* dungeons got pretty have mechanics, so try to read a guide and watch some videos...
i would say DFHM, cause you will know half of the mechanics and stuff already...
MM is also fun and easy after some time... but i would never IM that thing...

MM is mechanic based and not boss fight based. The boss itself is easy as long as you can handle the mechanics of the instance and understand truth vs lies.6 -

@Catservant Can't recommend MM via IM, as long as people don't do the mechanics you won't complete it no matter the gear, hell you can even complete SSNM via IM with 3 warriors even if one of them is a floormat and lost crystals.1 -

It depends on your group, an average group will take 20~30 minutes to kill the boss. This means if your group doesn't do the star phase, since it relies on everyone doing it then he'll gain stacks that cause him to deal more damage, eventually killing even your tank through block with a single hit. If your group is decent, with the star phases then it becomes an instance that is almost impossible to fail since the boss itself is easy to handle. Where as a dungeon like SS, people have a hard time with the Boss's attacks alone, in addition to the extra mechanics.5 -

Okay, I guess I'll figure out LFG, too. Really, I knew I was going to have to do that. Any guides for LFG abbreviations and ettiquette?6 -

You would just say something like "MM- D/P/M/T/H" with the letters representing what you need. (Dps, Priest, Mystic, Tank, Healer)5 -

Why list priest mystic and healer? Wouldn't H cover both bases?5 -

It depends, you put H if you have neither, and if you have a Priest and also want a Mystic you put M, if you have a Mystic and want Priest you would put P.5 -

MM is a fun dungeon, like someone already said; is all about mechanics and not the boss itself...
you should try MM, but keep in mind that this dungeon is all about how the PARTY make the mechanics.. its not about how YOU do it...
so its a team dungeon... even if youre full imp+15 you wont be able to carry everyone else..
I still vote for DFHM... xD5 -

1. Get at least full +12 slaught with 250+ crit.
2. Watch/ read guide
3. Try IM MM and SSNM for couple time
4. Join Pug (not instant matching) MM and SSNM
5. Join DFHM, ABHM - This one just die and learn after reading guide. You can be carried ok.
6. Training group for SSHM or guild run.5

Not expecting to complete dungeons through IM, but thanks for the heads up. I expect to die--book learning is not enough for dungeons, although it helps yes.
I am in a guild--but it's just my friends and I am the only one ready to try 4 star dungeons.
My main is a gunner, but I also have a ninja in full slaughter+12. I've read essential mana's suggestions on how to do DPS rotations for both, and I find the gunner to be slightly more idiot proof. I'm not confident that my DPS is high enough to pass the checks, so I'm thinking MM or DFHM are good choices, as you two have suggested. Leaning toward MM as I believe I may lose the opportunity to try it soon...
So, is that a vote for or against MM as my first 4* dungeon?
