TERA NEEDS MORE PVP!

As far as Civil goes I wish we could bring in your Basic GVG system back. Once a week guild PVP just doesnt seem like enough and dont get me wrong I love FWC and CS but after playing them everyday for 3 years it can get old. as oppose to PVE players who get Tons of PVE dungeons guild quests "PVE" . Maybe possibly add in some PVP Guild Quests?

    i've been hoping for more pvp since years back but what did they do? they remove pvp content and added irrelevant so called "battleground" like kumas and iron bg.

    pvp will be dead and players will get sick of waiting for long queues.

  • funnily enough teras pvp is more rewarding than teras pve atm, since only dg worth doing was dreadspire which is seasonal.
  • I wrote an article about this a long time ago on the forums. Been about two years I think, now and it still applies today. Basically BHS approach to Tera is fundamentally flawed as is with most MMO's nowadays. The problem is they spend time building this very large, expansive open world and no one uses it. Instead, everything is instanced anymore. There is no competition for anything meaningful and the battlegrounds are just a means to an end.

    Simply put, PVP gear in the current state of Tera really has no purpose at all. When Tera was first released and leveling was difficult, you had people out in the open world. World bosses dropped unique loot that was worthwhile at those levels and people often times done them. The pvp flourished because people would compete over world bosses or because a guildie got pk'd while questing and a large scale war would break out between two guilds.

    Nexus in particular was very lively. It pulled EVERYONE to the same area in the open world, no safe zones so guilds really went at it. Ran your mouth and annoyed a larger guild? Good luck doing Nexus as they would make your life impossible. The game was generally more fun then. Instead, we see rolling hills and deserts that are barren of players. You might see one or two people at most doing the story quest, but even with how leveling is, it's utterly pointless to do a majority of the quests when you can reach 60 so quickly and then just do the arx umbra quests to get to 65.

    Games need to move away from this instance based system and make things in the open world more useful. Make world bosses drop imperator gear or tokens you can trade for imperator gear. You can use the token system and update their loot drops when new gear is released and that keeps them viable. The game needs a way to draw people out in the world, events like Dreamstorm or Nexus or such. The problem with Dreamstorm was it was housed in safe zones which is what I have a problem with.

    Even back when the vanarch system happened, I remember B R A Z I L on Lake of Tears disabling PvP in the lowbie areas. What happened was about a week of nonstop guild vs guild declarations on them until they finally re-enabled it to get everyone off their backs. Just goes to show how much some people like having an open world to fight in. A lot of old systems that were good have been scrapped and done away with, which, in my opinion, destroys the longevity of the game.

    Most of us pvp'ers don't like doing dungeons over and over again. The AI is predictable and simple. Once you get the attacks down, it's mostly just knowing when to react. PvP is another ballgame and, for a pk'er like myself, I'm not fond of battlegrounds. To me even battlegrounds get stale. I've been playing Tera for just a few weeks recently and I'm already starting to get bored. I see no point in getting conflate. I have a conflate weapon but I'm seriously questioning the purpose of pvp gear. I can use it in Fraywind and Skyring..Okay, but I'm not particularly fond of arenas. Strategies get stale and isn't as diverse and expansive as fights in the open world.

    Civil unrest is fine but is not consistent enough to scratch my itch as it happens only once a week. Let's not talk about the recent debacle, that's not important. Tera needs to do events to get people out of Velika and safe zones. The argon invasion was a nice start but we need to have things like that be more consistent, like world bosses and the like. This instance based system just, in my opinion, kills longevity of games. Thanks for reading, sorry for the wall of text.
  • @above if youre a pk'r you have no say in pvp. sorry but asking to be able to gank lowbies is also not "liking open World pvp" cus theres no pvp.
  • Actually, I do have say in pvp because PvP stands for "Player vs Player." Let's not get into an argument about the difference in PK or PvP or structured vs non-structured. Keep it civil, please. Also, for the record, I'm on Fey Forest which is a 65 pvp area so I can't pk lowbies even if I wanted to, which, by the way, I don't. I'm one of the rare PK'ers that attacks people with higher iLevels because they put up more of a fight. I'm one of the old school players that, while leveling on Lake of Tears, I routinely attacked people even up to 5 levels above me because they gave a greater challenge than picking on lowbies.

    My argument still stands that the whole reason there is no pvp is because there is no one utilizing the open world. It has nothing to do with the fact that there are no lowbies to PK or anything of that sort, so I'm not entirely sure where you even got that out of my post.

    Frankly put, this nonsense of "you're a pk'er your thoughts are invalid" needs to stop. All thoughts and opinions are valid, despite the person giving them being a pvp'er, pk'er, pve'er or whatever stance they're on. PvP is PvP, period. It stands for Player Vs Player. Regardless of whether the person is a battleground hero, a scummy lowbie ganker or an honorable white knight that protects lowbies from said scummy, it all falls in the realm of PvP and thus is a relevant discussion. If you have something to discuss, dismantle my argument, not my character. This is a discussion. If you don't know how to discuss or debate, you have no place in these forums. Have a nice day.

    then i suggest you to not use word pking, cus it solely used for lowbie gankers in tera. and no, pvp is made when sides are even, just like bol cant be taken seriously in pve scene, neither can lowbie ganking be even if its "pvp". and pvp does exist, just cus its not in open world doesnt mean it doesnt exist at all.

    3. block 10~15 premade party from CS an let lvl 30+ join. It takes forever for joining a CS without lowbies and decent reward.
    4. make new pvp content.
  • PK and PvP are technically by definition the same exact thing.

    I dunno why the argument of semantics has even come up.

    CS needs to a complete overhaul starting with the 15 minute rounds. Round time should be 6 minutes with weaker doors and less gimicks. CS should remain 65 only but changed to unequalized since we are all grownups here. Then you look at rewards and make a new strongbox since alks and spellbinds are both garbage at this point.

    CS used to take 25~30 min when It first came out. It had been like that for couple years. Then, it became 5~6 min game with pre-matching system (lowbie VS lv 65 pre-matching team). Then, it changed to lv 65 only. But, Kuma royal is faster with better reward.     Agreed, heck force all to have equalizer gear that play the 20-64 level version of CS and make it only so that at 65 if you choose to go in a special type of CS you can with your actual PVP gear. Otherwise, have a 65 level CS that does like the 20-64 one and forces equalizer on everyone. This would make it less about gear, and more about strategy and skill.
