Curious as to how people can run this game smoothly.
So i was a loyal Tera player for a couple years back when it was Subscription based and even recently. I loved this game to death and everything was perfect. Then something happened. Optimization went down the drain about the time Ravenous Gorge came out(year ago) and Tera is literally unplayable for me.
I would LOVE nothing more than to play this game but i cannot. I run across people that say they have a very bad computer, yet can still run this game smooth as butter. I paid about $1000 3 years ago for my setup(FX 8350 and R9 290) and even on lowest setting, my game is laggy. For me at least, low FPS=LAGG. I linked a video of my 30 second boss fight to demonstrate how bad it is. No, that is not your video buffering, that is my real time gameplay on Preset 2.
Before you ask, yes i did the optimization guide and nothing helps. Am i going to need to build a cheap PC just to be able to play Tera?

i did tweak it though. Every optimization guide did not help
Its really wierd considering i seen people with beast setups having these problems, almost makes you believe even the optimization problems in Tera are a part of RNG.
I havent even optimized Tera yet, all i did was a full defragmentation of my hdd together with freespace defrag, using piriform Defraggler, perhaps you could try to defrag your hdd, if you havent done so, makes wonders sometimes.
Generally i seen people saying the game runs better on intel processors then amd.
They ninja fixed the aerial to my knowledge. I've had it on for awhile now with no problems.
- Check CPU/GPU temperatures and usages. Next try installing a fresh Windows to rule out mal-ware/viruses.
- Zooming out also help a bit with FPS.
- Running Tera on an SSD also does wonder with spikes/freezes.
That's everything on top of my head at the moment.
I wouldnt say that. I have core i7 4770s, HT fully enabled and turbo boost enabled too, and GTX 980 reference card from nvidia, I can get 66 FPS most times in cities after reducing lucid effects from max down 1. However, the only time I get down to 40 FPS dependson number of sorcs and reapers, or how long someone maintains growing fury. And yes I've been down to the 20s with all those hailstorms going on and reaper explosive ring going off on them... wasn't fun to be trying to tank during it, glad I wasnt on healer then as it would likely resulted in missed aims for titanic favor...
I think a way to improve it too is to optimize it not in the gamebut through the nvidia control panel that you can access when you right click the desktop. Mine is still mostly on default settings though so not sure. I just need to go back in there and lock my fps as I'm using a 60hz monitor at 1080p.
We can't.
And if someone tries to tell you they're getting 120fps in dungeons, laugh in their face and flaunt the fact that the UE3 can only render 90fps when networking is enabled.
None, unless you turn down all the settings and have a heavily modded engine. Even then you probably won't get 60 consistent FPS in combat. Then you get into mass PvP.
