Returning Player of a year or so..

I know this question has been answered before, but i couldn't find it in the forums.
Why did they change the storyline ? I know before you would start in the island of dawn but now you don't?

Comments

  • They used Island of Dawn as a map for solo playing (Lv65), you can farm BAMs for rewards every day and it seems to give a pretty good amount of gold for every Vanguard (Mission) that you complete.

Stepstone Island has less teaching than the old IoD (kinda) but seems to work kinda better, still, it breakes the lore as you reach Velika, since Samael still mentions "Everyone is asking me about what you did at The Island of Dawn". Its something that BHS never thought about or didn't want to change.

    Greetings.
  • Oh okay, i ust felt like i missed something bigger than what it seemed to be, so once you get past Stepstone Island its still the same storyline?

Dougal makes a cover story for your new character, basically saying s/he's the same sort of recruit as older characters(promising fresh meat from IoD) and Samael says he just came from there but didn't see you.
  • Pretty much.

They got rid of the Lumbertown part and started straight into the Crescentia part. And you'll get a recently added Lv13 avatar weapon. Other than that are just minor changes to the main lore until BoL, but is pretty much the same.
  • Alright thank you so much, I was kinda freaking out because I couldn't find anything on the website that described what happened as well as y'all so thank you so much ! I don't feel like I'm lost anymore!
  • np. I've also just returned to the game and I've been questing a lot lately. working on my second run through all the main stories.
  • One important change was also the automatic delivery of the free starting horse (lvl11) to your inventory. You may not believe it, but people missed this quest and ran around with not horse at all. Also people got confused with the Lumbertown quests. Basically it was a bridge head and you went off to different directions from Lumbertown, several quest lines. Apparently this was also confusing new players as you could accidentally enter a lvl ~20 with being lvl ~13 only if you take the wrong way. Also the swamp zone (~lvl 15?) had small areas when you unstuck or safe haven scrolled from there you ended up in a lvl ~30 zone.

By now, the quest line is streamlined hard and you can't go the wrong direction (except if you really want it), following the quests.

because bhs change their team, and the old team forget to let the story lore to the new team before to change their job, so new team need to create a new story lore :3

Sometimes I wonder what people think working life looks like. In every company you get kicked out if you "do things for fun", even if it's work related. You may not further claim to know what BHS is doing, because it makes you look like someone who has never worked in real life.

Sometimes I wonder if SaphirKanzaki know the definition of fun or if he is alway uptight and anyway some people have fun in their work, other like SaphirKanzaki thinks than work=slavery

You missed the topic. It's not about fun, it's about work focus.

Imagine a cake for a wedding. The ordered cake is for 2 levels. The baker trainee decides to make 3 levels because "fun". Do you think this is justified? Putting in 50% more material and more time? Because the customer is not gonna pay for it.

So is Island of Dawn. No one of us is gonna pay or show interest in having a reworked IoD for "fun". The only reason why they streamlined it was to make it easier for beginners. Because every MMO lives off the first hours in which new potential customers must be convinced by the game. And having [filtered]-ing Lubetown citizen doesn't really help in this matter.
