About to be first level 65

Hey all,
So I just rejoined the game after many years and am leveling to get my first level 65. woot go me! However I am readying about gearing and a lot of it seems outdated, I know that the new spellbound patch is coming out with new gear/accessories/idk what else. however what would be the best gear/inslot items for after this patch. I think its ambush?? Also I am playing a ninja and then on to a reaper. I know that I get lv 65 gear called ionia/something like that. Any help would be great and thanks!

    Thank You Brotherbros for your detailed and helpful response, the reason why I was mostly concerned with it was so that way I didn't waste excessive amounts of time trying to get gear and it only end up being average. I do enjoy this game and it is a lot of fun and just want to contribute to my guild and other fellow players the best I can. I will work my way up and hope that I myself can learn the in's and outs and try to make this the best experience possible for myself and others!

    I've recently returned too and have been working on getting Slaughter gear for my two main characters (Reaper/Mystic). I have Masterwork +12 Dreadnaught on both of them... are you saying that we should wait until the new Spellbound update to get the next line of gear? Because I can't count how many times I've tried rerolling good stats/masterworking as well as a number of failed enchantments on some in-progress Slaughter gear I've gotten. If it's going to be more or less obsolete with the new patch, should I just wait for the update?

    Speaking of gear enchanting, does it work at all after +9? Because I've never gotten it to work.
