Is Crafting Dead?

I have been told constantly that crafting is dead, why is that? Also with new Tier 10/11 items coming out and we can make them, why is it dead?

    Crafting is indeed dead.

    Mid-tier is not worth crafting, why buy a set you can get in 1-2 dungeon runs?
    VM gear is bound to crafter and does not require crafting skill - it's not a real crafting, just bound mats exchange.

    Alchemy has its uses but will most likely die in a couple of months with stamina removal and simplified potion system (stuff is either removed or moved to NPC store).

    Etching is the only survivor, but it's a gamble that require a lot of money to make money.

Weaponcrafting is only useful for brooches, armorcrafting is only useful for oils used in etching and brooches, alchemy gets completely gutted[1] with the next patch (sorc+stamina removal+consumable revamp is all rolled into it), and BHS has been trying to kill etching in various ways since the first update[2] after adding it so it's only a matter of time.


    [1] The new HP/MP pots are uncraftable and only available at regular merchants. The new nostrums are craftable, but their resource cost is higher than just buying it from merchants. Alchemy ends up just having the rune conversions (that nobody uses 'cause you don't have to craft a single thing using runes to get Master in any of the crafts), that nostrum, and some other unused stuff. http://originalyosha.tumblr.com/post/150001264765/it-was-nice-knowing-you-alchemy for reference.

    [2] First update added tier III etchings. Then with the removal of Nexus came the loss of the main source of titan embers.. a problem we're STILL dealing with because every time EME fixes it, BHS removes/kills the content EME used and the cycle starts again. The designs for IIIs drop practically nowhere (except Ghilli afaik). Ace dungeon badges can get you perm tier IIs. The new 30-man has uncraftable perm tier IVs.

  • I'm just wondering what's going to happen with gathered materials, since all Cobala Ore (used for scrolls), Pilka Fibers (used for HP potions) and Goblu Essence (used for MP potions) are all used for alchemy, which will be dead with HP/MP potions + scroll removing.. we will probably gather them and throw away from inventory and only keep scarabs and Fine materials, which is pretty sad. I actually liked gathering + crafting potions and Tera will be probably first MMORPG I played where you can gather materials with no use and just throw them away. Crafting was never completely dead, but probably will be after next patch (except Etching, as others mentioned).
  • All of crafting is dead alchemy dies with the new pots we are getting that sell from merchants. Etching is dead soon because ace dgn gives tier 2 etchings 3 can only be crafted but the new tier 4 etching will not be tradeable or crafted just earned in 30 man raid. The only thing crafting is for use of is just brooches and with the new scrolls for leveling up crafting professions and the test for artisan/master changing crafting is now pointless and meaningless all the charm effects onslaught crit power are put into nostrums for just that one item that gives you the necessary buffs you need for dgn's.

    Those are still used for the new nostrums.. but it's not really worth the effort to. Still use the fine/pure stuff for brooches. Kinda wonder if BHS even bothered changing the alchemy artisan/master tests so they're even doable. Though it's not like they did with weapon/armor.. those still have what.. Patron gear as part of them?

    ALCHEMY will be DEAD in the SPELLBOUND PATCH.
    Not in future ones, it is right the next one coming at the end of the month, early november.

    And Etchings are sold in the Ace dungeon shop, Tier II only tho :(

    They tend to keep obsolete/unused things in the game until they replace them. Crafting should honestly just be brought down to 1 profession since splitting it up into 4 mostly dead professions is rather meaningless honestly, and just confuses and wastes resources for those new to the game. The current system also leads to disappointment when they find out their efforts went to waste because they bothered to go with a useless profession.

    they probably are killing it because Korean player base doesn't want it? Not sure but they may want things more stream lined?
  • I think that you should be able to craft top teir gear = to that of drops so that way you have alternate routes to get end game. Just my opinion.
