I'm also getting ping spikes at around 8PM-1AM every night since few weeks ago. It's usually under 100ms but at night my ping gradually gets worse and even getting more than 1000ms and comes down again to around 300ms range. It fluctuates too much that it's literally unplayable.
  • Yes, I'm also getting irregular spikes, delays and sudden freezes at certain times of the day the past days. At first, I thought it would be the TERA servers that is causing it but during those hours I get the lags, my internet also has issues with loading simple contents such as a youtube video/flash (usually it's instant).

Hi. Comcast user here. I've been getting lagspikes(130-200ms) lately especially around 8-11PM Central.
I normally have 60-80 ping. Started happening about a week or two ago

Yep. Same time every night. Starts at about 530pm pst and usually stops around 630-7pm. It seems to only be happening on Tera. Any other website or game I use is fine.

Exact same thing here on FF, 5:30PM ~ 6:30PM PST . Massive ping spikes (unplayable). Only TERA and Discord have issues with my comcast connection during this time.

It's not every night for me, and it doesn't last that long when it does happen, but I get spikes from 40 up to 150-350ish every 15-30s when it's affecting me. I've done traceroutes in the past when the same issue popped up (it's only been here, at least for me, since the SS patch), and it's always been Zayo causing the lag. It does seem to be mostly in the evening, but I haven't really paid attention to the time, so I have no clue if there's a specific period of time in which it happens.

Atm when I get it, it's usually just 10 minutes or so of mini lagspikes, and then it's gone. Still getting random DCs several times a week, though, whether that's related or not.
  • Same I am getting horrible lag from 7Pm ~ to like 9Pms~ My usualy ping is around 60~ and it can get up to 2k on spike lag hs. ( also a Comcast customer )
  • I ran a test last night using PingPlotter on the 208.67.49.145 IP address. Here are the results:

    MTHJaMj.png

Everything was fine until 8:48 PM Eastern when packet loss started to occur. Once the packet loss started, the game became nearly unplayable with frequent multi-second lag spikes.

It appears the issue exists at hop 8, which is within the Zayo network. This doesn't appear to be the fault of Comcast, rather something wrong within Zayo's network that likely affects many Comcast users.

I don't think there is anything that Comcast users can do about this (other than switching ISPs and hoping for a different route). However, maybe someone from EnMasse could talk to Zayo about the issue since it appears that the TERA servers are directly using Zayo for internet access (last hop before TERA server is still on Zayo's network).

If anyone else wants to try duplicating this test, download PingPlotter and use 208.67.49.145 as the Target Name.
  • So only USA players are having spikes? Provider related?
Cause im not from USA but im dealin with spikes on those last 2 days...
    just wondering...

Many of the people reporting issues in this thread are using Comcast (US ISP). However, it is likely that people on other providers or in other countries are also experiencing issues. It depends on the network route taken between the user and TERA's servers and appears to be a Zayo problem.

For people who are getting lag spikes, I recommend running PingPlotter in the background while playing TERA (use 208.67.49.145 for target IP). If you start having lag issues for more than a few seconds, alt-tab back to PingPlotter and see if you are getting packet loss. If your issue is similar to mine, you will likely see packet loss within Zayo's network.

Hello all, just wanted to report. For some reason today I don't have the delay and lag anymore. I have no idea why. I was waiting for the same time like the last couple days that I had the lag, but today same time there is none. So I hope it's gone for good.
