Real-time optimization question

What does this setting do? I don't understand it lol
Yes I read it when I hover over the setting, but I don't really get it.
Does a low setting help with fps?

    0= reduce quality
    3= dont reduce quality

    but if you already at minimum its not suppose to help.

    also

    low-performance dimming remove or apply shadow occlusion, from my observations

    Thank you for replying, I didn't think anyone would :/

    So basically real time optimization hardly does anything?

    Basically, think of 0 as no shadows, 3 everything showing everywhere, 1-2 a mix in between, when there's a lot going on around you.

    Ok, more then shadows are affected, I should have been more clear about that. But take for instance this screenshot. http://i.imgur.com/eA38ngE.jpg

    When set at 0, shadows will start to go away, textures will lower on avatars and world etc, all to try and keep your FPS as high as you can get. If set to 3, you're basically telling Tera I wanna look pretty all the time, don't care if in a raid of 50 people! I need to see my pretty effects, character models etc.

    Oh okay ^^ So the best thing to do is set it to 1 or 2 it sounds like, when I have almost everything maxed out and good fps

    I'll just play around with it and this helps, thank you ^^
  • It has been documented on other sites like Reddit that Real-time Optimization doesn't work that well, and it can even make performance worse.

    The sliding bar works opposite the others. Setting it to 3 will turn it off completely, and setting it to 0 will make it as active as possible.

    Personally, I have noticed better performance while having it turned off.

    That's strange that 3 would turn it off.
