Iron and Crimson dragons are set to release October 25! Players will be able to get these dragons multiple ways:
    • Account Bound Iron and Crimson dragons will be available through the TERA Store. As with all account-bound mounts, they aren’t tradeable. These mounts will have 1% HP and MP regeneration, but no combat stats.
    • Royal Iron and Crimson dragons will be available through Loot Boxes in the TERA Store. These boxes will be lower in price compared to Diamond and Ghost dragons, but like Diamond/Ghost they’ll grant the Draconis Rex passive, giving a chance to double Crit Power. They also have 2% HP/MP regen and a party buff that increases mounted movement speed by 10.
    • Non-tradeable Iron Dragons and Crimson Dragons will be obtainable by earning Dragon Scales. These versions will grant Dragon Master, giving a chance to increase Crit Power by a factor of 1.5.

Here’s how to obtain dragons in-game…

First off please note that none of the materials or resulting items involved in this process are tradeable or bankable. To begin, Dragon Scales can be earned through certain Vanguard Quests (see below). A single character will be able to earn up to six Dragon Scales each day by completing all six quests. We’ll also be looking to include Dragon Scales as rewards in other places, like through special events and the daily calendar rewards. These Dragon Scales will open a token shop, where you can spend fifty Dragon Scales to obtain a Hardening Dragon Egg.

The Hardening Dragon Egg can be opened like a box, with a small chance to contain either an Iron Dragon or a Crimson Dragon (both dragons have an equal chance of appearing). If you don’t get either dragon in your egg, you’ll receive a Dragon Claw instead. Eight Dragon Claws combine in your inventory to create a Mysterious Dragon Egg.

The Mysterious Dragon Egg can then be opened, and may contain an Iron Dragon or a Crimson Dragon. The chance of getting a dragon from these Mysterious Eggs is much better than the Hardening Dragon Egg. If you still weren’t lucky enough to get a dragon, you’ll receive two Dragon Claws instead, giving you a head start on getting your next Mysterious Dragon Egg.

The following Vanguard Requests will grant Dragon Scales as rewards:
    • Shadow Sanguinary (Hard)
    • Sky Cruiser Endeavor (Hard)
    • Lilith’s Keep (Hard)
    • Ruinous Manor (Hard)
    • Ruinous Manor (Normal)
    • Corsair’s Stronghold

If my memory serves me right, while ago you said that you want veteran players to be rewarded and to have easier access to those mounts, can you please tell us how is any of those ways rewarding for "veteran" players?

    I'm just curious.

ikr why cant this question be answered....veteran players getting the mounts easier. or did they mean that if you are a vetern player that you should be geared up enough to farm the dungeons....
I think that was all it meant -- that veteran players were the types of players who would be able to go through the effort to get these mounts. They weren't saying there'd be special privilege/shortcuts for veteran players.

    ...

Basically, you can see the sort of compromises that BHS required.

EU: Technically you "can" earn all the passive mounts in-game, but getting the best one requires collecting 27 unique random items via a RNG box (letters A through Z + one symbol). The RNG box can be earned in game from dungeons (rarely), or bought on the cash shop. So, practically speaking, it'd be near impossible for anyone to get all the items they need without buying (and if they were going to buy, they'd be better off just buying the regular lootbox).

NA: You can't earn the royal version in-game. The collection process is still RNG, but doesn't require a large collection of unique RNG items -- just one set of tokens to earn chance boxes. There's a sort of anti-failure mechanism (failing gets you tokens to get a box with a higher chance), but even then it isn't guaranteed. There's no way to buy the tokens on the cash shop (which is probably why the royal version isn't in this mix)... but in the end, buying the mount off the cash shop (or from someone else who did) is still going to be the more efficient way. Plus, with account versions of the dragons (no buffs), people who just wanted to get dragons without lootboxes will just do that and be less driven to go through all the work.

In the end, none of the methods really accomplish what EME was originally wanting to do that was rejected... but that makes sense because that's why BHS rejected it. BHS clearly wants the passive to be an incentive that drives people to the cash shop one way or another. And that isn't what the players here wanted, and EME knows that, but this was all they were allowed to do. All they can do now is take the reaction they're going to get (which they knew they were going to get -- as someone else said, read between the lines) and send it to BHS management so they're aware the players are mad.

    sigh...

Gotta give them credit for releasing the info now and not late on friday, when there's no one to answer...
  • @Spacecats @Treeshark

Severely disappointed you decide to release the P2W dragons without the F2P Dragons at the same time. This whole [filtered] could have been avoided had you chosen to wait at which point you could decide to just not release any of them and told BHS to go [filtered] itself, which you still should. Tell them to go get more money from Korea or Start Putting out our builds first. Now as opposed to it being strictly BHS fault we don't get dragons at all the blame is 100% on your own heads no matter how much you try and push it off on BHS.
The only solution now is refund all the P2W dragons Remove them from the Store then give everyone a free P2W dragon as a [filtered] you to bhs because you can.

If TERA were a progressive metal band, they'd be playing the progressive of the progressive of the progressive. Just the way they do with the RNG of the RNG of the RNG in the game.

inception in inception in inception movie
  • Guys, RevO beta launches next week, and it's supposedly action combat. I'm just sayin...

I was defending you guys since the start, thought you were trying to make something nice, but this is a joke. This sounds like an old EU event.
You farm like crazy for a chance to drop the dragon or you get another token where you need to farm more of those tokens and jump in a another rng.
You didnt even put Lilith normal and DFHM. Hope you guys do something better next time, even EU has a better event for dragons regular AND royal ones. This time i wont believe this is BHS's fault.
Thank God I dont care about these dragons anymore. All I want is my sweet Sorcerer Revamp.

So, after reading so much disappointing remarks over this whole dragon issue, especially not being able to get a free fair chance at a 2% one, I believe Tera is making its move to true p2w mode.

Bluehole, Inc. owns EME. Whoever at EME tries to do this would simply be fired and replaced with more compliant employees. You only get one chance to fall on your sword; is this worth quitting over, or is it better to stay around and hope you can try to keep influencing things going forward? Those are the real decisions here.

    No, they really can't.
