Why do all my character names have "_1"?

For example, What.Is.Box_1 . What's going on? Can this be fixed? I made this character in 2012/2013, so I should have the original name...

    Depending on when you last logged in there was a name release:

    Along with server merges where someone else may have gotten rights over your name too.

    if you haven't logged on to those characters in a while, there were two times where inactive names were released.
    if your names haven't been taken you can get them back once you try to play the character (when it asks for a name enter the original one first to see if it's been taken). otherwise you'll have to change them.

    sorry about that, there were lots of complaints about that event cause of this , lots of players hated the fact to see their now inactive friends getting their names stolen, even cause it wouldn't have solved the problem ; sadly, they didn't seem to care.
