    GG get rekt! Closed beta hasn't even came out and their already throwing power at you for all the credit card warriors who bought a $60 founders pack. Time to move on bois, nothing to see here :)

    Are you kidding me? I know that there's such thing as over-hyping, but come on now, that's just sad, man...

    As BlueHydra already said, the only thing that even seems "p2w" is the level 20 legendary weapon, but just because it has the word "legendary" doesn't mean it's super OP. That's like giving out a level 12 avatar weapon in Tera. (Okay maybe not since you really need to pause at certain levels to actually get geared so you can continue leveling, unlike Tera, but that's at 49+).

    Aside from that, the Emerald Experience Pack does seem amazing, but all it seems to be is just mats and level items. I may not have much experience in the CN version, but at least I'm sure to give a game a try before ruling it out. I'd be calling the fact that you can buy XP stones from the auction house more p2w than this will ever be - and that's gated behind actually gearing for specific levels. Plus, do you really think people are going to pay 59 dollars if the publishers say they will give you a virtual hug along with the perks you get when you pay 18 dollars? And a single RNG outfit box p2w? Kay.

    You probably didn't even know that you can only use these items on a single character, once. Honestly I think what is worth more is the fact that you can reserve your name (if really needed) with the second and third tier founder packs...and even that isn't close to this 'p2w' you speak of like the Legendary Pets/Weapons from BnS, dragon passives from Tera, and whatever the mess people call BDO. I'd really just say play the dang game. Should even try the CN version as it has an updated English patch (although it's just google translate or something).

    Nice job, though, especially if you want to resort to this being a "bait thread". Still, least you could've done is actually read the dang thing: "STARTER HELPER pack: Everything a BEGINNING PLAYER needs...". I do however understand if you're salty about the CBT1 release date change :awesome:

    ...I guess some can say that I have a lot of hope, but then again - that's why we are all still here amirite :chuffed:

    Also, gratz on your beta key Bluehydra. :hurrah:
  • It ins't P2W if you call starter packs a P2W then TERA's Elite i'd consider as well P2W due to bonuses exp boost and other things. I do like that they give us options like this and it's in affordable price no one force anyone to get that if you are poor lol . Games/Servers arent running on air or water every developer needs money to maintain the game and allow us to explore new game contents as soon as possible . Simply take a look at B&S we're almost on the same lelve with patches as B&S Korea . So if gathering money from starter pack and other things will make patches fixes and other stuff faster hell im gonna buy whole item shop lols . I love supporting games and spend money on games so why not :D i just stopped supporting TERA cause i don't see a point of supporting it since it's not giving me anything i could buy (what i need) from shop or anything + umm i rather spend money on newer games with more flashy graphics than THIS .
  • clearly it's p2w, mmorpgs thrive on card swipers. it's nothing new.
  • @cloud3431 how is this pay to win? Please enlighten me.

    @DivineRemnant ty! Yea the English patch for the CN client is very Google translate-y but it's understandable. BTW they handed out compensation for the delay, key holders get to participate in cbt2 as well and ppl who paid get 9 extra elite days.

    if you can buy anything in games like these with real money that gives you an advantage in-game, it's technically p2w. pretty sad i have to explain this
  • @cloud3431 the items offerd won't give you a big advantage over other players, theyre all obtainable ingame, most of them easily.
    You can't buy yourself big advantages like say, the level 60 scroll in Tera.

    What you're saying is that ANY advantage makes it ptw, so in your eyes everything and anything is ptw, it's like saying Tera's elite is a ptw system.

    technically, yes. tera's elite gives double rep, which gives the non-paying players a disadvantage. you obviously didn't know this, sorry to hear that
  • @cloud3431 man that's a very very general way of defining ptw.. sure it takes longer to get stuff without elite, but it's not a ridiculous advantage, I don't have elite and I have +14 imp..
    pay to win, at least as far as I define it is when you can directly use money to get anything from the game effortlessly and when there are content, like the infamous dragons, which affect gameplay and are only obtainable via cash shop.
    Sure, MMOs live off of the spending of their communities, but being a credit card warrior won't put you at top tier in Rev.

    yes it doubles everything and even (wow!) halves dungeons reset time. advantage? yes. and no broker fee. and elite gifts with 500 feedstock jackpots. advatntage? yes. elite status can be obtained with gold? yes true. things like this can be bought from broker but as has been said many many times someone bought it and placed on broker so you can buy it. so yes, its ptw, correct. the thing is how much is your tolerance toward it.

    well, that's everything i wanted to say and then some. thanks!

    p2w = pay to win,
    back when i started hearing this expression it meant you would get for money such a big advantage on game that you had no chance to beat that adversary, therefore called TO WIN and not TO FINISH FASTER. It's sad that this expression was downgraded and now is used indiscriminatly.
  • @Kertain thank you! That was my point.

    None of the benefits in the RO pack give you an advantage that you can't compete with.

    Tera's elite system doesn't put you that far ahead of other players either.

    However I understand if people say Tera is p2w cause thers gear that's accessible only by cash shop and you can buy big advantages like the levl 60 scroll or selling emp and buying BiS great.
  • Those MMO game that came from China is ALL P2W.
    Trust me.
  • Bluehydra wrote: »
    Actually, what you're showing isnt really showing any ptw content.
    Lets analyze this:
    -->Level 20 legendary weapon and armor.
    This is equivalent to crafted gear, or in tera terms, superior items. However, level cap is at 79, so its meaningless. (Ah, and I almost forgot to add, you get a free legendary weapon at 37 as f2p.. it's part of an orange quest)
    ---> Depleated plhogiston (15)
    ---> magic elixir (10)
    these are consumables as far as i know
    ---> Fancy title
    doubt this counts as ptw
    ---> TEMPORAL mount
    i dont even need to explain this
    ---> 18888 gythil
    currency, not much of it tbh.

    Oh by the way you can redeem these items on ONE character ONCE, so what if they give you five enchanting stones? They put you a week ahead in enchanting, however it's pointless to call this p2w cause it's not such a big advantage and you can't keep spamming it for more.

    So far, they arent giving out items that will make you a god in endgame, theyre not giving you endgame gear, nor leveling you to cap by getting bought items, nor giving you crazy advantage in PvP.
    How is this pay to win? you can even craft the preminum mounts and wings (yes, all of them) ingame...

    I played the Chinese version for a while, and ofc I don't have all the info in the world, but it didnt feel p2w. I didn't make it to endgame, I stopped at lvl 49 since you can only get so far with 1200ms ping.

    Honestly I'd wait till the game is out before crying wolf. I got a beta key from a stream, so if you want I can keep you up to date on how the game actually ends up being so you can skip wasting your time if you are so sure this game will be p2w

    But another factor that your missing on is that, Revelation wont be like tera in terms of leveling. Getting to max level will take people months and so being lv20-30 is where we going to see many people be at first. And like I said the 5 enchanting stones that you get put you entire MONTH ahead of everyone else not just a WEEK, cause you could only get one stone per week daily.
