  • As a returning brawler (with just dread gear) i havent had much trouble with aggro, as long as my uptime is nearly 100%. and this has been tested against +15 imp sorcs. If you are taking aggro from a brawler, it is likely because they are doing pretty wrong
  • I've seen many times in the past where even when I use eclipse on my dps class, I was getting aggro sometimes or many times due to how much dps I was outputting. I found out that the tank was either new or not very good. Most issues would relate to the combination of proper rolls, rotations and/or knowledge of their class overall. As understanding as I am since I main a lancer, I would patiently wait and go near the tank and let the tank get aggro back.

Usually eclipse is like a comfy feeling for a dps class that they can go all out having not to worry about aggro steal as much. But when aggro switch becomes very consistent even with eclipse turned on, then you really have to pinpoint the issue towards the tank; it's that simple. Eclipse can only help so much if the person is not doing their job right.

Even though I agree eclipse should be brought back, most of the times eclipse should not be needed as mentioned already by others, especially if you have a very good tank. But then again it's a rarity to find good tanks due to many factors.
  • the point here is..... even if you all say they are just losin aggro because they are bad tanks, that still doesnt solve my problem! i can tell them to get good and/or point out their mistakes... but yeah, everyone from this community are rly nice and are rly willin to listen to advices.... thats super normal, right....
eclipse was a way to solve this problem WITHOUT dependin on others... thats the point..

When the tank can't hold aggro, Eclipse doesn't help with me dealing more damage than they can generate aggro.

Can we also bring back Heaven's Elixir, gatherfaster, and dedicated crafter's scrolls too while we're at it? :v

they removed the design and alchemist craft learned skills .............

Eclipse isn't going to help when the gap is wide, it was just a crutch when the dps was slightly ahead of the tank, but now a days when a tank is losing aggro it's because the dps is too far ahead to the point it won't even matter. The dps just has to adjust to the tank, figure out what damage they can do before ripping aggro, or just keep aggro and dance back and forth.

usually not in all dungeons, but as Bralwer before patch ofc, I could hold bosses with full Dread set, and I saw some which couldn't, so it can be done, and most dps were friends in SF and IMP sets.

It can also be that since the dungeons are new and there are some new attacks or mechanics that the tank is not familiar with and that tend to make some if not most tanks playing on the safe side and not aggressive enough so yes aggro will jump if some big hits from dpses hit the boss or mobs. Remember that tanking and dpsing are two different perspectives in most cases.

The only reasons against this seem to be "Play with better tank/dps/healer". That's great advice, 10/10, but where am I supposed to find these people? Why shouldn't I have access to items that will make life easier for my party, especially if they play with poor latency, or bad fps, or if they're playing on a potato computer? Do they deserve a party less because they have a harder time getting skills off? I don't see you opening your wallet to buy those players better gaming equipment, or a better internet connection. I know a lot of players that play on their dorm wifi. You're not REQUIRED to use these consumables, but it makes life easier for people who do struggle.

I'm 100% for bringing these consumables back, there's no valid excuse not to that I've seen so far, and no, "git gud" is not a good enough reason.

This, lol. "Find better tanks" is not a solution that helps, lmao. Not everyone has the option, there are definitely more dps/healers out there than good tanks this patch. Plus those good tanks probably already have statics. So...
  • It's another repeat of past patches we had where lack of healers and tanks...Every LFG has enough DPS, it's always healers and tanks are scarce like the usual.

Good tanks and healers are already with a static or helping their guildies/friends. And tanks you come across through IM varies...some are good, some are bad and when you get bad ones, you would wish eclipse pots were still usable so that your rapid fire doesn't take aggro from that slaughter brawler who's just using punch->counter combos...

I have an undergeared brawler (back then it was just slaughter weapon and belt, dnaught armor pieces with pretty bad rolls because I didn't want to transfer any item to this character due to the proof of not needing alts to be decent) and I will say this, when I notice that I am losing aggro, I switch out to threatening. Most average tanks or so called "laggy" tanks don't do this.
  • The archer always has difficulty with tanks, even with the very best tanks it is possible to occasionally steal the aggro, but that's OK. Occasional is fine. The real problem, as everyone has correctly surmised, is that it's amazingly easy to steal the aggro from poor to average tanks, or lower geared tanks. Especially brawlers for some reason. But why and when isn't really the point. Eclipse potion had a very useful purpose. During play in the higher level dungeons with good players, everything is fine, but playing dailies and lesser dungeons it's now absolutely horrible. I spent most of yesterday with the aggro in everything from DFNM to VOK. And why on earth remove Eclipse? It's certainly not because it's not needed. It's not a question of learning to deal with aggro, it's not only stops the archer from playing the way it's supposed to play, but it can cause chaos in the party and worse ~ prove incredibly frustrating for a learning tank.
  • I'm of the opinion of "more options is better". And yeah, telling people to 'git gud' or find better tanks is really ridiculous. A lot of people don't have a choice in the matter.
  • Something I want to add to this discussion...Considering that I am someone who likes crafting (mostly alchemy and etching), I found that some old pots like Heart Potions are still pretty useful and it helps a lot (+17% healing amount) and I like using them because you get to see that big increase. I'm not sure why BHS decided to kill alchemy and crafting altogether rather than trying to just keep some things and change it's properties...It'll help promote player having more options for them rather than like right now which is just running dungeons after dungeons after dungeons...Which gets old quick.

Like for example, Panaceaic Bolster, which prevents Stamina dropping. Since Stamina system is remove which makes the item redundant, why not have the potion's effect change from prevent stamina drop to having the effect of increasing your maximum HP by X% like how they changed the one of the superior food consumable.
  • I think they are trying to simplify.. just dont ask me why
