I did suggested in the past that the reward points needed to reach each tier should be reduced. At this point, is either you spend roughly $12,000 on just the reward system to reach tier 10 (it is an insane amount of money that i could probably use to buy a brand new car) or play every single day capping points without fail for a straight 4 years to reach tier 10. Nobody wants to either pay that much or spend that much time for a hat and a few mounts. Reducing the reward points needed to reach the higher tiers will definitely help everyone to get into the higher tiers in less time or spend less money if you go that way. Reducing the reward credits those exclusive items cost would also help a lot. My 4 years worth of playing TERA only gave me enough credits to afford 3 of the 4 hats from Tier 8, and i only use my money to buy costumes and elite.
That was my argument too. The fact that difference between Tier 9 and 10 is the same as the entire distance between Tier 1 through 9 seems really excessive to me. Of course there are people who got to that bar and who got the exclusive rewards who may not like them lowering the bar to let more people in... but I think a compromise would be better. I think the tiers should feel more progressive.

I'm Tier10, I have absolutely no issues with them making it easier for other people to reach Tier10- as long as it's not something that loses ALL its value. The ideal balance to me would be that it takes around 6 months, maybe up to a year, of actively playing the game and not JUST grinding the dungeons/dailies that give points on multiple characters. It should be something that can realistically be reached within the average amount of time that most people do spend playing this game before they move on- because getting to Tier9 and seeing they now need as many points to get to Tier10 as they already grinded out is NOT going to convince them to keep playing. Realistic, achievable goals are what keep people interested, not unreachable, never-ending grinds.

Good argument here. 1 year is the most realistic scenario of a new player wanting to be rewarded for his time and money spend in TERA to achieve tier 10, probably less if that player is dedicated to reach tier 10. I am tier 9 and i am still stuck at like 36% from Tier 10, and it really is discouraging to me not seeing that bar move up no matter how many dailies i do. Before someone say something, no, i do not wish to throw my life away by making countless alts to speed up my progress to reach tier 10. It sounds like something easy to do, but in reality is not, when you have other things in life like a job.

@LesbianVi Yes, avatars that are behind bars means the user got moderated more than once.

I don't have a fat wallet... I have a job. And I use that money to buy cosmetics in Tera. I'm currently tier 7 and I'd really appreciate if people stop assuming everyone who swipes/actually benefits from the reward system is some rich kid. I work everyday. Get. A. Job.

Yeah sure, I bet if you have a job, maybe the kind that grows money on your trees, but not the type that you would consider twice before shelling out thousands of dollars on virtual pixels. But sure come on, keep flapping your cute fins and singing with best whale voice!

I have a job, too. A well paying job. And I'm 7 on Tera.

With that being said, I don't want to be Tier 10, nor do I want to spend 10K on a video game. Having a job or not has nothing to do with it. It's the fact that spending $10,000 on a game seems absolutely insane and ridiculous to me, especially a game that is supposed to be free-to-play. I absolutely agree with some of what has been said here, that Tera should have a way for people to rank up in tiers and in reward credits without having to spend insane amounts of money.

Also, before it's assumed, I'm not asking for a hand out of an easy way to obtain exclusive items, just a more reasonable way. I'm Tier 7.. meaning that I've spent my fair share of money on Tera. I love those loot boxes, unfortunately for my pocket.

$10000 seems like a lot in 1 lump sum but you didnt earn $10000 in a lump sum and neither did EME.

If you were around when this game started and had a habbit of spending a modest amount of money on video games you would be tier 10 with ease.

You like the game so you get founder
You like the game so you pay for elite (only costed $9.99 back in the day)
You like getting new gear and dont mind spending for spellbind boxes and e alk boxes
You purchased keys from EMP shop during or before strongbox events
You like new costumes and dont mind buying the rng boxes month after month
You have a habbit of selling EMP from time to time
You have friends you want to gift in game
You gifted wintera giftboxes to yourself with the help of a friend

I have done all of these things on top of having maybe 30 lvl 65s across all servers and doing at least 30 server transfers for either cross server shopping, cosmetic swapping or just moving to another server.

I got tier 10 and over 300k reward credits off of that and I feel no dent in my bank account. Before you ask no I am not some fortune 500 CEO just a regular person.

Its hard to visualize now because this game is so stale in the money dept but at one time there were lots of reasons why one would spend money in the outfitters & on elite.

I do all of the things you've mentioned here. I don't have founder because it is no longer available, but everything else, I do. I just can not picture spending $10K USD here, even after years and years.

I'm not sure how much I spent over time to get to the tier I am at.. but I know it's not near $10K. Also, I had said Tier 7. I am actually Tier 6. Half way to 7.

    This! 100% agree.

Just because you're not willing to do it doesn't mean nobody else does. If someone started at Tier 0 and focus grinds for 2-3 hours per day (hardly "nolifing"; the average person spends close to two hours a day on social media ffs) since the Ninja patch, they would be at the same rewards tier as you. The Tier 10 is easily reachable in a year at that pace.

That said, they should buff the reward points from dungeons vanguards and reduce the points obtained from that certain method.
  • @Immisively, I've definitely done the things you've mentioned, minus server changes. I play only on CH. No need to play anywhere else.

    I'd love a second way too. I'm only Tier 4 because I don't spend a lot fo money and don't 24/7 dungeons.
But tbh, I can see why people don't want it to lose it's value, just like the ghost mounts that can only be bought on shelf 10.
I LOVE the laures, and want it, but it should stay that rare and I'll just gonna work my way to it.

There is no "good use" of money. What's the point in "saving" or "investing" excess cash when it all goes to waste when you die anyways? Entertainment is just as much of a necessity as other things anyways as it's good for your mental health, which is just as important as physical health.
it wont hurt your mental health if you can limit entertainment by putting your money to a ''good use''. to help someone who is really in need. its called charity. but too many people think only about themselves and their pretty ''winged laurels''.
