Being a veteran players such as I am comes with people knowing you, or at least some about you, from friends that told other people about it, former friends, or just people that heard information, simple as that.
Also, people spiting personal offenses in public should be moderated as hard as 3rd party program exploits, both are offenses, both are against TOS and both harm the community, if you think that one is more serious than the other, then I don't know what to say.

    @TeraDestiny
Not saying I am an amazing player, but I do know my class and my performance is good enough, what happened was that the person - and the others who had similar attitudes in the past) are simple toxic players that go around insulting everyone that is not part of their bully group. (who plays on MT might understand which groups I am referring to)

Here I was running a dungeon (that cannot have it's cooldown reseted), when the priest decided to pull me repeatedly into the boss's one shot mechanics to watch me die and laugh at me, while saying I am brazillian (which I am not) as if is something one should be ashamed and pursued for.
in real life this priest use gun to theft your car :p

Yeah, I'm sure it has nothing to do with your attitude. People just tell others you are female and a foreigner and they can't help themselves, they just have to harass you because of it. Sounds legit.

Verbal abuse and vulgarity (in user names too) are taken quite seriously by our support crew. If you see this happening, the best thing to do is report it with a support ticket:
    http://support.enmasse.com/tera/tickets/submit

While CS reps don't generally share the results of a report (they don't share account and banning info), so it's hard to know if someone's been punished, you can be 100% sure that the person you've reported will at least be investigated.

lol everytime someone say this I cant help it but laugh. 3 years ago when I reported some players (Providing proof, videos and screenshots adjunct) they were banned as fast as light. But now? the last 3 times that I reported someone cheating and boosting his score on alliance (Killing lvl 50 reapers in a hiding spot) support told me "We'll investigate this player's actions further. Please note that we do not disclose actions taken against other player's accounts so we won't be able to provide any further update on what action is taken.", every time... the same answear. So, after that, this dude kept walking around, 1 week later, 1 month later, and to this day. He wasnt banned and didnt lose his Exarch mask (that was earned by cheating and passing legit players, like me, on 2 of his characters.) I know he is still around because I have him in my friend list.

So, support did nothing and when I made a comment like this (no callouts), the last CM leader who was fired deleted my comment in less than 30 seconds because discussing moderation stuff is not allowed.

People would not be discussing moderation stuff if you guys, especially support, do thier job.

I lost faith in support tbh, there is no point on reporting someone, it seem like tickets fall into black holes.

I still have the proof video up on youtube tho.

Indeed, me and my friends been thru identical situation in the past, we all reported with proof and nothing was done, 2 of them left Tera and never came back because of that, I quit for a while as well, but what can we do.

I got a few people banned showing evidence of botting/hacking during mongos for example, although I gotta say, there are moderator (won't name anybody, but I do collect all the pre-programmed answer and GM name) that now answer tickets within 2 hours for any "report a player" purpose... why? automatic answer, bam bam bam fast answer, nothing has been done. Best to do is to re-open the ticket and harrasting them. Fun story, bully the GM with Tickets seems to be the only way to make things possibly happen.

Simple task: Do your job, GM. I got a very few good experiences lately indeed, so I agree with both of you, in-game report isn't even actually report, and ticket get answered by a GM who copy paste without even reading the situation/ watching proof.

ive had similar experiences myself, what I did was and still do, I only hang out with my 1 friend in tera and also in real life a few blocks away, and I pretty much avoid everyone else. I do my own thing. I only run things solo, except with them, and I used to climb places and go for the free mounts. it keeps me busy enough. I don't run the hard stuff, nor do I try to go for the best gear. I have fun in my own way. some may find it boring, but between spending time with my friends and family and school, its enough for me. I immerse myself in the beauty of the game, and with so many dead areas, sometimes I imagine myself wandering through a post apocolypitic world. its all in how you look at it I guess and just make the best of it.
  • The very strange thing about mmo's is that they claim to be set in virtual reality, but thank's to the game designers, socially, they just mirror the real world. The simple fact is that mmo's aren't really designed to foster a good community, rather they are aimed at making money by appealing to some of the worst aspects of human behaviour. If you look at the game it is supposedly based on team-play, but the truth is that very few people are playing the game with a team spirit. Rather they are interested in promoting themselves, whether that be by owning the best gear, owning the best outfits, achieving the highest dps in a dungeon, soloing dungeons, racing through the game ( levelling ) as fast as possible, or attracting attention to themselves with what they consider to be clever or amusing behaviour. Some people are just losing sight of the fact that this is supposed to be a coop game and it's not all about them. But seriously can we really blame them too much when the entire game tends to drive us towards selfish behaviour?
Anyway, the point is that that just as in real life there are people who try to achieve their own personal goals ahead of the team. They fail miserably because while they may look good in their own eyes, most people see them for what they are ~ an idiot and even worse, a bully.
I know it's annoying to find yourself in a dungeon with such people but trust me when I say that the decent players do notice, and will be on your side.

That's probably because MMOs are played by real people, with real motivations, emotions, thoughts and beliefs.

The game does promote cooperation. It's the players who decide -how- to play and since we are, after all, real people, selfishness is part of the deal. As my dad always says: The only free thing in life is the cheese in the mouse trap.

Yeah.. reporting doesn't always mean they'll take it seriously. An abuse/harassment case I had in the works for 7 months was dropped and I was told to provide new evidence, despite many users reporting the same people for the same issue.

Since you're on MT, I'll gladly do dungeons with you if you want some company?

Whether you're pvping or doing pve there are already reasons to cooperate, winning or completing the instances for the rewards. The issue is, people aren't as good as 'we' want to believe. It's actually normal to be selfish, being selfish is one of those normal human behaviors that we just deem as wrong and expect to not happen even though that's not realistically possible at the moment.
