Disbanding the Party - Is this becoming "a thing"?

I've been leveling up by doing the storyline missions, and by using the Dungeon Finder when I hit that point in each storyline. I've been making a point of teaming up for dungeons, because that way I'll have a clue about playing my class (priest) before hitting max level.

Since parties race through dungeons like there's a prize for finishing fastest, I generally wait until the last boss is dead, then I stick around while people leave the group and finish up any remaining quests.

Yesterday, after finishing a dungeon, I got a message that I would be bumped out of the dungeon momentarily. I suspect that the party leader, instead of leaving the group, disbanded the group. I ended up getting bounced out before I could complete the main storyline mission. So I had to repeat the same dungeon ... and at the end of the dungeon, the exact same thing happened again. I ended up soloing the dungeon (in normal mode) in order to complete my quest.

I haven't played much in the last couple months, and this is the first time I've encountered this issue. Is disbanding the party, rather than leaving, becoming the new way of ending dungeons?

  • If a leader wants to disband, it generally requires all members to agree to it, unless everyone else leaves which automatically disbands the party (which sounds like what happened to you).

Most players just want to quickly farm dungeons for EXP so they don't usually hang around for long. I suggest asking your party mates to not leave quickly and wait for a bit, while you finish your quest so party doesn't auto disband.
  • I'll try putting it into dimensions. Leveling a character to 65 can be done within 15h play time for an experienced player. These are players like me who have over 30 characters on lvl 65 and just level another one for fun. They know all the quests and those are boring to them. So racing through the dungeon with Elite potions, expensive inner armor and maximum damage (crystals, glyphing, etc.) is quite normal. You will also have noticed that these people barely need healing. They know every boss attack pattern, know their strenght how many monsters they can take on.

As mentioned above, you can tell them that you're new to Tera. People like me will slow down, even let you see the cinematics and just wait at the end of the dungeon to pick up all loot or finish your quest.
  • Same thing happened to me a few times while I was levelling. I also had to solo the dungeons to advance the story quests (those were the quests where you had to defend an NPC for 5 minutes) since it seems no-one wants to take the time to do those.

So I'd say it's not new, although if someone asks me to wait or help, I will oblige.
  • You get teleported out of dungeons when all the party members have left, and, as said above, this is different from disbanding, that requires all party members to agree.
The only solution to avoid this is asking your party to wait a few minutes so you can finish your quests.
As Saphir wrote usually in IM parties there's at least one experienced player, if you have any problems just ask and he/she'll be more than willing to help you out! Have fun!
  • Many of them are making alt. They just want to get to lv 65 in 1~3 days. You need to tell other member abound doing dungeon quest. Prob, most of people will help you out and will not disband the party right away.

At the beginning of the run, just ask if any one of them can stick around after the dungeon so that you can complete the quests. Good chance one of them won't mind just afking and getting a drink.

And the above posts are correct. You'll be booted out of the dungeon automatically if everyone else leaves the party.

I just solo dungeons from the get go anyway :P.

I will admit I am one of the few that would just speed run the heck if I made a Mystic/Priest instead of doing story, because it is so boring.

By actually catching up to their pace, you are also getting yourself the momentum of endgame (the bosses are still faster at 65 "3* and up difficulty" than when levelling up but at least you get used to the action). The three simple starting dungeons the moment you hit 65 can be cleared blindfolded once you understand how bosses work.
  • Based on the advice that everyone's given, I've started making the requests at the beginning of the instance run, which has worked out well. I at least manage to advance the quests each time I'm in the dungeon.

If I was just trying to complete the Vanguard quest, the speed wouldn't be an issue. I think this issue is largely created by the way the missions and dungeons are designed.

For example, this weekend, I was trying to complete Fraya's Faith in Golden Labyrinth. To complete the story mission, you have to protect Elleon (for 5 or 6 minutes), and then kill Varcerbus and Valgmore. Given that two skilled players can kill the two bosses faster than that (and one skilled player could probably make a tight race of it), that ensures that repeating the dungeon once is a necessity. And if nobody is on board with sticking around, the party can finish and leave the dungeon before the timed event is over ... possibly forcing multiple repeats just for one step.

Even if the story is boring, lots of players would like to complete it once. I'm one of them.

The speed of leveling adds to the issue. Just by doing the storyline (and the necessary repeats of the dungeons that are part of it), I'm constantly multiple levels higher than the quests and dungeons.

I've done that in order to complete the quests (or sections of them), but I'm trying to join parties for dungeons so I have some healing experience before hitting 65th level.

Of course, my dungeon soloing ability came in handy in a party yesterday ... when the DDOS attack disconnected three players from the party, and the remaining player was lagging badly enough to die every time a certain mechanic occurred. I also got to practice in-combat rezzes.
