Name reset?

Any chance we'll ever get one in the near future, or ever?

  • Doubtful, It already happened about 2 years ago. While some people got what they wanted, name sellers still ended up benefiting.

That was 2 years ago? God it feels like yesterday...
  • Pretty sure it was only a year ago. Summer 2015.

If it ever happens again, EME need to introduce some countermeasures against the people who log in first to take a bunch of names and never use em, aka, name sellers, to prevent them from hogging onto multiple names, as EME, specifically talking Spacecats, already stated (at least in the forums) that name selling is a shady business:

Because this is a policy that hasn't been expressly stated or enforced in the past, no warnings will be issued to people that have posted name selling threads in the past. That said, any name selling/trading posts after this point will be considered a violation of the forum rules and WILL result in moderation. Please don't post them. This has been added to the Forum Rules & Guidelines.

    Why the change:

Name selling is, in general, a shady business that we don't encourage. Making a character with the sole intention of holding on to the name for later sale is frowned upon. It's very difficult to regulate. It constitutes player agreements that aren't enforced by the mechanics of TERA like a typical item trade. They're prone to scam, which not only means a terrible experience for honest players, but leads to time-sinks for Customer Support team, often resulting in situations where their hands are tied and said honest players are completely out of luck.

I know Ktera had the same problem and the way they fought back was to put a cooldown on names after deletion. A name on a deleted character would not be usable for around a month. It was however, not specified to my knowledge if the name would not be usable by the same person for a month, but usable by others.

Since the last name wipe, i still see a lot of level 1 characters holding onto names unfortunately. The name selling still happens every so often, just not in the forums, as it is now against the rules to post name selling threads.

Personally, i think EME should make the whole thing of name selling punishable, or add a system to delete automatically inactive characters under certain level to prevent more of this business.

I wouldn't mind another name wipe, lots of level 1s with top end names
