+It is a really pretty game with a vast world that is fun to explore.
+You can manage well enough without paying anything.
+Dungeons take a combo of 3 things to do well at, IMO. Your skill in that class, your knowledge of the mechanics of that dungeon, and your gear. But it is in a way where if you are short in one, you can make up for it with the other two.
-Leveling has gotten so fast that you'll need external help to have any idea how to play your class. Seriously. There are all sorts of 65s who show up not knowing what to do, not even basic mechanics.
-It recently took the first large step into p2w territory, wheras before it was skirting around it.
-Guilds are increasingly becoming more of a necessity, which is more of a problem for some than others.
-The classes aren't especially balanced atm, with some classes being far harder to be good or even decent at than others, but a major class rebalancing is currently underway.
-Rest
but cute elin, [filtered] elf, popo ?
combat
class choices
race choices
everything can be gotten without spending a dime. pay for convenience/fashions model so there's no gear out of reach
still a very pretty game despite it's age, detailed animations, armor and fashion designs, weapon skins and designs
cross server instance matching, so you don't have to rely on the population of one server if you want to pug
easy to hit max...that can also be a con
Cons
some classes are race/gender locked...that bugs some people
sub par fps on most systems due to processor bound execution and lack of multi core support
-Some classes suffer from desync, some times it is due to ping some times it is due to your system. If you have a good ping and a good system though you by pass most of this
-You may want to research how to optimize the game as it is poorly done by BHS, there are ways in which you can make TERA use multi cores as well as others things in which increase the enjoyment of the game. It one of the most annoying things about TERA for me (PLEASE OPTIMIZE YOUR GAME AND GIVE US MORE OPTION GAWD SO ANNOYING)
For me it still has the best combat even with its quirks
As for how much you can spend, to just enjoy the game you do not have to drop a dime, you can buy elite in game with gold you can earn from other players, YES you can spend cash to speed up the gearing process but it is really not needed.
Oh and Side Note, Castanic IS the Master Races, please carry on
- Fun real time combat system, best of any MMO. Only reason I keep coming back to Tera.
- Easy to get decent PvE gear on alts, possible for PvP if you're willing to grind a bit.
- You can play F2P for the most part. Elite is decent, not needed.
- Fun PvE dungeons, lots of work on this front being put forth.
Cons
- Lower level DGs are dead, you'll be queing a boring 'PVP" (it's not pvp) battleground to level up.
- PvP is dead in this game, regardless of the server.
- You can only use PvP gear for 30 mins a week competitively.
- Not much replayability or things to do at end-game
You seem like you're the more hardcore type player. If you're into PVE, sure go ahead. Tera does a good job at PvE and the combat system is nice. If you're coming into Tera expecting PvP at end-game, don't bother. There's a big guild vs guild war once a week, but it only lasts for 20-30 mins because there's a huge monopoly on power on each server usually. Most guilds don't show up, which leads to one big guild with several raids (20 people per raid) destroying the rest of the smaller guilds pretty much instantly. Besides that, the PvP battlegrounds never pop and when they do that're equalized. No need for PvP gear outside of that 20 min big guild war that always leaves a bitter taste in most players mouth.
In neverwinter, Im in all the biggest zerg channels, in the largest guild with the highest level of alliance available. I usually play around 30 hours a week.. at the moment the grind level - about 90-100 hours a week to advance. ITs that bad, they did this to force you spend real life dollars, they even defended saying they have to make a living.. when we all know they pulled in about ten million dollars in income last year if not more. Its just over the top greed now. They will try to double thier income in the next year off players.. well those players, not me.
Yesterday, not one member of my guild/alliance.community channel was running any dungeons.
they were all fishing.
because you can make about ten times as much fishing right now and for at leat 12-14 more weeks. It will equalize at some point, but Im not waiting around for that.
There are poeple even defending this as necessary, because newer players cant play the harder dungeons.. as if years of progress doesnt matter, just being able to pull a fish into a boat.
Cons : everything else
Good combat
Not pay to win (at least not yet, with the way Dragons are going that could be changing).
Best free to play model in an MMO, by far.
Good fun classes
Cons:
Poor optimization
Very limited content

Instead, when you want to go on how you feel a game is too pay dependent, talk about the aspects you feel are too much to you and why.
Just sayin...*cough*
