Warrior Stance question

I apologize if this has already been asked. I've done an external and internal search, and can only find discussion from Q1 2015. I am a new player and have a lot to learn.

What is the preferred stance for warriors in PvP?

I did see a video on YouTube where a warrior was using parry as an animation cancel? At least I assume, because he was using it after or during many abilities.

Thank you ahead of time for your help.

  • The parry animation cancel is a really old technique that is no longer usable, in pvp you always wanna go assault stance and rely on stuns, evasive roll and DFA.
  • Dstance for 1v1, astance for almost everything else

i can 100% say that parry animation cancels are still a huge thing and work.

dstance > 1v1s or small scale

    astance > large scale

however warriors are pretty bad at anything other than small scale pvp

but yea, your best bet is dstance if you're going for 1v1s

A-Stance served me better in CS, but D-Stance in FWC and Skyring.
D-Stance is mainly for PVPing and tanking if it gets revamped for warriors and zerks
  • Thank you for your replies, everyone.

So do you end up switching often if the scenario might change between 1v1 and large scale? or do you stick with a stance if it is only a temporary change? (say, do you switch assault if reinforcements arrive for both sides, or do you switch to defensive when a larger battle starts decaying into a small?)
  • well, it depends. if you're starting off small scale and moving to large scale, you may or may not change stances. its personal preference honestly.

but if you're starting at large scale, its better to keep assault stance if you have it on because you'll kill the enemies faster if it decays to small scale because of the superior crit and power buff it gives.

I know the forums are pretty dead but giving bad advice is just mean.

Lets clear it up since the rest of the ppl in this thread dont know how to pvp.

Do you want to use staggering counter? Astance

Do you want to use smoke flanker? Dstance

Do you think that the astance power and crit buff will be the difference between life and death? astance

Do you think that getting 2 extra skills into your backstab combos makes you look cool for the same damage? dstance

Lets sum it up.... Which would you like better?

Astance gives you a minor power and crit factor buff and staggering counter (stun duration is fixed so it isnt too bad now).

Dstance gives you an endurance buff, a no cooldown block, a second backstab in smoke flanker (the stun duration is not longer than stag counter) but is still good against block classes.

The damage is the same with max gear against another player with max gear u will still burn anywhere from 49-79% hp in 1 backstab combo astance or dstance. It all comes down to playstyle and for me block cancelling is way more important than stag counter.
