  • I'm sure it's been said before but just for confirmation, these ping issues are not limited to election related propaganda or those in the great states of America.

Three weeks ago we outside of the USA experienced a baseline increase in ping of up to 50%. Sometimes these would last for a day or two, which at this point I highlighted the issue to EME which they thought at the time it was just my dns as it would fade in and out during the week. We now have a constant ping increase with no variation clearly highlighting the connection issue residing on their side of the world.

I'd like to ask for the time wasted during this period on my elite status be replaced as the dungeons were completely unusable. I want to give my support to EME but I feel bad having paid for a service that I was unable to use. Hope you resolve this issue for everyone soon.
  • Please don't do triple drop right after fixing the servers if thats what you plan Eme. Spellbound patch hit 25th October, these server issues started right after that. I, and possibly many others, have not even had the chance to learn the new dungeons due to the server issues. With constant ping 340ms+ I have not been able to play seriously at all. I've already cancelled my elite sub as it's a waste if I can't even play. Another dungeon drop would only benefit those with little to no issues.
  • Now I'm not sure if it's a good idea to use elite now
  • This brings up an interesting topic, BHS's use of timing mechanics applied to unstable servers with ping fluctuations that are often greater than the mechanics timing. Not sure how to address this since BHS is in very small and well internet connected South Korea.
  • If have been doing some research on my end, and I observed a few things which may be of interest to the developers:

    - When the game starts to slow down / generate freezes, I often see the launcher coming in the foreground for fraction of a second; when that happens more than once, I usually end the game client AND the launcher, then look in Task Manager what is going on...
    - From Task Manager, I observed that the game client and the launcher do not always close even though they have been terminated; in addition to this, there are several instances of Tera.exe and 1 of Tl.exe which stay resident long after the game has been closed; those apparently CANNOT be terminated in Task Manager under Windows 10, and the more of them there are, the worse the issues next time I start the game client.
    - When I see more than 6 or or 7 of those resident Tera.exe, I now make a cold boot to clear them.

Basically what tells me is that there is an issue which is NOT about providers or Internet, but about hung game process which CANNOT be terminated; if any of those has an associated memory leak issue, that would account for most of the observed symptoms without the need for reason external to the game client.

This is a permanent and therefore reproducible situation, I suspect that everyone can verify it on their own computers.
  • Still very laggy since saturday, won't go down 220ms during all day, going up to even 280ms and that is unplayable.

What you're talking about is a different sort of issue. You're talking about framerate slowdowns/freezing and possibly some sort of memory leak or hangup on your computer. But the issue here is about network lag caused by connectivity to the server, which doesn't manifest itself as framerate lag, but delays in taking actions (or seeing the others of others) independent of your framerate. (The framerate itself may be totally smooth, just you can't take any actions or they're really slow to be reflected in the game.)

So it may well be that this is an issue as well (although it is not consistently reproducible for me; launched the game not long ago and there are no lingering TL or TERA processes, and there are usually are not, though I have seen it occasionally), but it's not related to this particular thread. This particular network lag is based on your path to the server, and can happen even after a fresh boot (since it's network-induced).
  • Everyone lagged and disconnected in my RMHM party.

    In mine too.
  • In mine too.
  • Fix ittttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt

    pls
  • Doing the same in my RM group, lags and dc's
  • 2 minutes later, DC again, trying to connect back I get same message during that warp drive.
  • My connection was fine all weekend but I'm getting disconnected repeatedly today, too. :x
