Is Lenovo Y700 15' good for playing Tera?

I'm planning to buy new laptop, Lenovo Y700 15' and i was wondering is it good for playing Tera? i7 6700HQ (2.6 up to 3.5ghz), 8GB DDR4 RAM, 1 TB HDD, GeForce GTX960M 4GB DDR5.
What is FPS like in endgame dungeons and CS? It doesn't have to be preset 6, lets say preset 4-5.. I would really appreciate some feedback on this. :)

Should work, but as i tell every new gaming laptop owner: Get a Cooling mat for laptops. You will be doing yourself a favor.
  • Sure i will! :D I will buy it as soon as i get laptop :) I really hope that someone could tell me what is the average fps in dungeons.. Thanks for reply Zoknahal :D

Been playing Tera on 1st generation of Intel Core i5 laptop and 4th gen i7 laptop.
Yeah, your laptop (soon to be) is better than what was mine.
On my 4th gen i7 laptop when I use preset 1-5, I always got weird FPS lag spike. Now I've set it at preset 6 with Real Optimization at 0 (means no shadows when there is lot of people going around me), then I gain as much 40 FPS stable. In dungeon or CS, I did say that 20+ FPS stable all time with some character details might not quickly loaded (grey-out character details). For your laptop which is 6th generation of Intel Core i-series, would probably gain more FPS than my last 4th gen.
  • you'll be fine. don't worry. just turn off the shadow and run at preset 3 or 4.
  • im using a
    i5 6200u 2.3ghz-2.8ghz w/ turbo boost
    6gb ddr4 ram
    nvidia 940mx 2gb gddr5

when on cs and dungeon i usually get a stable 20 fps
some say that i need to increase my ram to and buy an ssd,
and see if theres a difference,
i use present 4 w/o shadows and real optimization 0

Getting bigger RAM is always good choice but SSD might not necessarily needed right away since it's one expensive drive. Getting SSD would be blessing though.
I'm fine with 8GB DDR3 RAM with SSHD.

Turn the PC limit and Distance to their lowest settings along with Effect Levels. But dungeons should give nearly the same performance for every player. 20-40 fps, some may be lucky to get 50-60 fps. Nothing else makes a differences as it's sacrificing quality for no performance gain.

It really depends how competitive you want to be. If you're casually playing Tera then you should be ok. If you want to be the best you possibly can, you will have to go to preset 0 and change a lot of things in your .ini files.

I had to change a thing in the .ini file that affects particle size of skills so the particle of sleep and plague are almost nonexistent. This really helped with hailstorm, though. Also, I cannot see the purple puddle mechanic on the spider boss in LKHM. But because of these changes, I have a consistent 80 fps in skyring and RMHM.

I currently use a Lenovo Y50, which is a small downgrade from what your laptop is. PvE at a competitive level used to be nearly impossible for me because of FPS issues, but they started to optimize the newer dungeons a lot better. And even though I'm well known as a small scale pvper (3s and 1v1), I'm barely better than the average player in things like Fraywind or GvG-type things.
