Opening 104 Iron Dragon Loot Box

That looks like my usual rng, can never win anything from lootboxes so I just avoid them.
  • Is this Live?
  • I bought 2 royal crimson lootboxes with leftover EMP I had, and I got it the first try. I got the mount in my profile pic on the first try too with only 1 lootbox, way back when I started. I believe it's because Tera has a mechanic that gives first-time buyers and former players better chances, in an attempt to make them buy more lootboxes -- ya know, like they do in casinos. Give them a win at the beginning, and bleed them dry. It's either that or I just have amazing RNG, but seeing as how I've dropped several hundred thousand enchanting +15 before I doubt it.

Um,!irst time I used EMP was with Felicty boxes and I opened 40 and never got sh*t, so where tf is my lucky first time!?!?!?

It's all just pure rng mate.

Ups and downs, dude. Sometimes the RNG likes you, sometimes it doesn't.
  • I wonder what it would look like if everyone in the world would make a video how they compare their lottery tickets with the results, only to see that they are not millionaires yet after playing for 20 years.
  • I don't do loot boxes, too much risk. I wanted the dragon mount and now I have many.....I bought the account bound mount. it was something I wanted and it was a sure thing. I didn't want the crit stuff, just the mount. its funny when people buy 100s of dollars worth of loot boxes and then complain. you know going into it that they are not a sure thing. if they had a fail safe, then I would say its worth it.

You just compared real RNG with rigged RNG?
  • That's pretty savage. My condolences OP

I honestly don't believe this is the case because there are plenty of cases of brand-new purchasers who complain on the forums after opening tons of lootboxes and getting no rare (which completely turns them off from buying anything again). I think you were just very lucky in this one case, which is the nature of RNG.

(There's also a technical reason why I don't think this is the case: the game server is separate from the cash shop server, and there's no direct connection between purchases on the cash shop and the items you open in game via item-claim. Those items are no different than if you bought them on the broker and paid nothing. If the lootboxes opened through the cash shop interface, say the way Kyra's works, then it might be more technically possible for them to have these sorts of systems, but not likely for these sorts of in-game lootboxes. The cash shop systems are also different per publisher, so I don't think BHS has the time/ability to program this sort of deep integration and not cause tons of problems and lag.)

Anyway, I still say the same thing I've said for years: posted odds and a failure cap. There was one lootbox that did have a failure cap not too long ago, but I guess either the experiment wasn't successful or they weren't allowed to do it again, which really sucks.

Look at the bright side, at least she got plenty of alkahest.
And 104 Instance Reset Scroll too.
  • That must have been over $200 in loot boxes alone, I'm sorry for your loss OP. But at least you can sell the Alkahest

This is why I think the Korean law that was placed on companies that demands they show their RNG rates needs to be applied here too. Or at least guarantee a dragon when they spend that much money on the damn boxes.
