@Fafhred1 Tbh, I've never bothered running a ping test because I just have no issues myself. Just been reading this thread and started wondering about others because this Zayo thing seems to be a big deal for lots on here.

The only 2 issues I have are:
    - The game starting to stutter after a while (solved by closing client AND launcher, the launcher itself seem to be the source of the issue, then restarting both after the pop-up telling me that the launcher was closed)
    - The game occasionally disconnecting without any warning or apparent reason, as seen from other players posts through this thread.

I do not actually see any lag while the game is working correctly; therefore I never looked at my ping either.
  • With Zayo off - the game was playable, ping reasonable, packet loss almost nil.
Turn Zayo on and wow, totally not playable, ping spiking from 90 to over 4k which is a disconnect and packet loss at 80 to 100%.

    I'm in Ontario , Canada

64.125.31.82 is where it all starts to go wrong for me the 11th hop
  • Still getting daily DCs even when the servers are stable because of this Zayo crap.

Please turn it off, or find an alternate solution that doesn't screw either NA or EU. I thought it was my ISP all this time (been months now of the DCing) until you shut it down, and the DCs stopped until you turned it back on. It's infuriating to get DCed multiple times a day and not be able to do a single thing about it.

There are only so many routing providers that go into Chicago. Savvis was better for some and worse for others. Zayo is better for some and worse for others. Still others are routed via Level3, and they'll have different pluses and minuses too. In the last few days a number of other MMOs have also had notices about connectivity problems caused by the same underlying routing issues. (Even if you move the servers to a completely different city, you'll just be trading one set of issues for another since, again, there are only so many routing providers in the U.S.)

It's infuriating for everyone, but there's not exactly a quick fix that will make things better for everyone.
  • @ReggieWarrhol I live in the same province and country as you and I haven't had any issue... It's weird.

For the most part, it's based on your ISP and area. So yeah, even people in the same province/state could see different behaviour if they're using a different ISP or are maybe even in a different part of town in some cases.

I do understand how routing works with connecting between hosts... Its just find that it's become increasingly difficult to pinpoint exact the problem of this issue and what they can do to fix it. I've been trying to calculate and trace certain IPs to see if it's a connection between hops but it seems to be entirely random. I'm sure someone out there has more information than I do though, heh.

Yeah, my interpretation of the data here and in other MMOs expressing similar problems over the last few weeks is that there are a number of different routing problems happening at the same time, which is what makes it particularly hard. You'll isolate one bad node, switch to a different route, and then find another unrelated bad node still in the path. Meanwhile, some people will be unaffected the whole time. So yeah, totally frustrating for everyone involved.
  • Launcher wont start again. f this shite seriously
  • Oh look yet again another evening where I can't even play Tera because you guys don't know how to fix any problems what so ever. I love being dc'd in a dungeon then not being able to log back in for 30min because your launcher decides to not work.

10771 ping, praise the potato servers.
  • I am the lag of my ping spike
Zayo is my body and packet loss is my blood
    I have disconnected over a 1000 weebs
    Unknown to low ping
    Nor known to server stability
Have withstood DDOS to create much latency
Yet these players can never stay connected
So as I lag, Unlimited TERA Works

Every night at the same time this happens. I'm able to predict it by now. at around 7:05 pm PST, lag just spikes for no reason. Happens every afternoon at the same time. Happens to a guildmate as well, and apparently a lot of other people if this many posts show up at the same time about it every night.

ISP is comcast, my location is California. Guildmate also has Comcast but lives somewhere on the east coast. Everything else works fine. I was in a call with 5 other people and my call quality didn't drop in the slightest. Internet browser works fine, I even started downloading a torrent after I gave up on tera for the night and it downloaded just fine. Only things broken are your site, your launcher, and your game. Please let us know if you're looking into this or not, since it's been a couple of months and all I've heard are a few users vaguely discussing routing issues and implying that I should get a different ISP when this one works fine for every other game, download, and upload process except tera.

Personally I had my ping drop from 120+ to 75ish when zayo was not used for the routing (with very low packet loss) and now its back up to 120+ again (with more packet loss). At least I got to live that low ping dream for a while.

From what I've seen you either have an ISP that works well with Zayo or one that works terribly with it and evidently changing the routing just moved the problem to a different set of people.
