How about an all inclusive recipe system (like starfall, where the recipe let you make everything) but to use the recipe you need mastery in -some- kind of crafting. At the moment you can't even be a master in two crafting skills at the same time, so forcing people to first master weaponcrafting to make their weapon and then armor to make their armor is a bit ridiculous. I do think that some kind of crafting mastery SHOULD be necessary to make the best gear in the game though, so it'd be cool if they put recipes behind a crafting wall. Make them like campfires or charms, "you cannot use this item," until you're a master in some kind of craft. After you master any craft, even alchemy, then you can use the item and begin crafting at your leisure. I'd like that a lot.
Back on topic, this is a bad idea, putting current BiS smartboxes out there a month into the patch. Please don't let us be like EU; they're casuals who can't clear dungeons without crazy consumables and their devs gave away starfall for free. Please don't fall into the short term trap of giving everyone everything they want immediately, or you'll kill your patch in a month.
Also gonna agree with this. As it stands, a few guilds use a simple script to gain a massive advantage over everyone else in the rally quests. That's why the same guilds keep getting all the stuff over and over again. If you can't arrange it in a way that's actually fair for people, or at least has a way to enforce anti-cheating guidelines, then just remove it.
Now watch all these people come out and claim that they just happened to grab the quests first, every single time for several weeks straight. Sure thing.
Designs would at least get more of them into the market. I would also support VM7 designs dropping from these too, perhaps in the secondary rewards, because those are more rare than VM8 recipes, yet the materials for making it are dirt easy to get.
The people who get these boxes will already have Ambush anyways. No different than the Imp boxes, the people who have them and are selling them already have had +15 full Imp on even more than 1 character. Not sure why people act like some random people in subpar gear even have a chance of getting rewards from Rally.
First, elite raids/guilds will get first place and subsequently they will get bored of getting boxes, allowing lower guilds to fill the spot and eventually getting the boxes. The healthiest option would be vm8 designs/vm8 mats.
Tho i believe that this is a EU change, since they mentioned there that the chance to get goddess gemstone is higher now .. i may be wrong but i think theres no drop of goddess gemstone on NA rally.
I would like to hear a "no that wont happen here" from the staff @Spacecats @Denommenator
Then again, that doesn't give them a right to abuse the system and take away even the slight chance of less geared raids to get the prize. I doubt that the winning raid will be all players decked in full Ambush this early on, and I'd wager that mixed Imp/Guile raids having a solid shot at it as well. At least more people would participate if the rally bams weren't so obviously rigged in favor of the scripting guilds. Seeing such abuse not sanctioned demotivates people, so it's pretty much just the interest of the very few that can gain anything from it at this point.
Honestly though, the system doesn't even need some elaborate reworking to prevent such abuse. A simple 5 or 6 symbol captcha code when accepting the quest would prevent scripting, as the scripts themselves are auto-click/click recording software. You wouldn't even have to randomize quest times (though, that would be good as well, since everyone and their grandma knowing that it pops at daily reset).
Also, I am in favor for the loot being changed to designs rather than dropping BiS gear smart boxes. People would lose incentive to run the new hard mode dungeons unless it's for guild quests or maybe achievements. It would effectively reduce player activity, since we only recently entered a new patch cycle.
Having run Rally just about every day since it came out, leading raids mostly, gear isn't a significant factor (unless everyone in your raid is so undergeared that they keep dying). Success at rally depends mostly on the size of your raid, not the gear level. On top of that loot is random, so unless you have 20 people (30 in the new patch) all Ambush geared the loot can just as easily go to the least geared person as the most. Someone else mentioned people joining raids and then AFKing, on our server all the regular raid leaders will block you from future raids if they catch you doing that.
As for the loot issue overall, I'm not in favour of imp/amb boxes dropping and think instead it would be better if VM mats dropped instead
This is unfair to the people had to grind for their ambush, for the design and the mats.
