Odd thing happened in CS this weekend...

Corsair's was popping all weekend thanks to the battleground buffs and dragon scale/handkerchief rewards. This event was great for budding dragon owners if you queued constantly. Managed to farm two dragon eggs myself in addition to the pvp and daily rewards. But an odd thing happened in one match that we so far can't explain. Maybe you know what happened?

The match had just started and our raid leader had declared we'd be rushing the south ladder with a distraction sent to north gate. The entire zerg of players made it over to the south ladder and started the climb and with only a single sorcerer guarding it looked like we'd be making it in fairly quick. But then the 7 people nearing the top of the ladder instantly died, including me. The sorcerer appeared to be channeling something right as everyone took lethal damage and respawned back at the base. The combat logs showed some damage from the sorcerer but along with MANY hits from siege weapons. This all happened simultaneously, instantly, and there aren't even this many siege weapons on the map. So where did all this siege damage come from?

After a number of WTFs and claims of hacks, people started leaving the raid and we lost the match. But I want to know what actually happened.

When bodies overlap and/or are really close to each other on the ladder, there's an old bug that multiplies siege damage by x number of bodies in that exact location. It's not hacks, just dumb luck and bad programming.
  • Cool, thank you! I figured there was a rational explanation and will advise the raid not to panic next time it happens (or advise the leader that ladder rush is [filtered]).

It's been there for a very long time.

It's also the main reason why we want reverse charms, to ensure tanks actually die if you wanna zerg ladders. (The reflect stacks as much as how many times it hits)
  • I was leading your enemy team, i queued again just after that game finished, and some people were real mad, telling me we are hackers...

That's a bug, so many people in the same ladder at the same place, at the same time receiving the same damage of the same siege gun... That multiplies one damage per number of people there, result = ONE SHOT...

That was a game bug, not a hack!
