For EME, all they can do is keep pressuring their service provider to push complaints up the chain and hope for the best. They can try toggling routing providers if they think it'll be better, but the test last time wasn't promising (better for some, worse for others). Trying to move to a different datacenter isn't very promising either; other providers in Chicago will come down to the same main routing providers, and moving to a different city could introduce new problems (and again, a lot of the problems that are showing in the trace aren't even in Chicago itself anyway).
For people affected, until the issue is resolved, the only thing you can really do is try to bypass the bad route manually, and the only real way to do that is via VPN. Unfortunately, for good VPN providers, it involves paying a small monthly fee, and I'm sure people would (rightfully) say it's not worth paying for a VPN to pay a F2P game. But, for now, that is the best way to workaround the problem, even though you shouldn't have to resort to that. (And if you do try a VPN, the trick will be to find a node that bypasses the problem. Sometimes it may not be the most obvious one.)
and it's going up now.
It may be there are also some other issues related to the new dungeons, but it isn't the primary issue, anyway.
After doing a lot of research and Speedtests, I found out it wasn't my PC/Modem/Router but something on the path to the TERA servers. I thought it was my ISP throttling and couldn't get anything resolved so I just resigned myself to thinking "I just can't play TERA anymore." Thinking it was on them, I didn't bother TERA Support. I ALWAYS check to see if its me or anything else before bringing it up to a company's Tech Support just to have all my bases covered.
A few months later, now I find out that I may have been the early bird to this problem because my Tracert looks the same as others here... Ping spikes between 6pm - 11pm at around the same jumps.... Well... I HOPE this is the problem at least..Cuz I would like to log back on to see what changed...
TL:DR:
I quit Playing TERA due to these ping spikes months ago thinking it was my ISP's fault.
For information purposes:
ISP: Time Warner (Spectrum now) ... Different company than other's reporting so it could still be their fault. IDK anymore.
SS is unplayable, can't get a stable ping for at least 1 min. Spikes and DCs are real.
He's right in the sense that the issues started during the SS patch, because they did. No one I knew had lag issues or constant DCs before that.
Fact is, though, that if they do nothing like they have been (not saying they haven't tried anything - just saying that they never even bothered to mention that they turned Zayo back on, and ever since, all we get is reactive "we're looking into it" responses rather than proactive updates on progress) - both NA and non-NA players get these lagspikes. Doing something is better than nothing - and while I'm sure they're at least brainstorming, we're not seeing a speck of that brainstormage, which makes it a little hard to justify not cancelling elite when I can't even play half the time and have no idea if they're going to fix it or not.
I've never seen a routing issue affect a game like this before, but it doesn't say anything good about EME that they've let this go on for months without even bothering to attempt a fix - or, hell, even acknowledge the issue - only doing so when it's gotten so bad that actually being able to play is hit-or-miss on any given day.
I have experienced zero lag since that one day where it was really bad for five hours. EME, if you changed something it worked (for me at least). Kudos.
500+ms in Highwatch?
Sigh.
Guess nope.
I got error saying 'cannot connect to server list'.
Restart my launcher and now launcher 'cannot connect to /signin page'.
But forum is up, server status page is also up..
Turn this [filtered] Zayo off, god. I don't care if with it i'll play with less 40ms, this doesn't matter if I desync in every single attack from RMHM first boss and die. @Denommenator @Spacecats can please Zayo go away and never comes back?
