Optimization patch: an insane game saving idea
Release some, that's probably heresy to some of the die hard fans (and for no reason as it helps everyone) but work to improve the performance of your game. 99% of other games do this regularly. I love Tera, I think it's great fun and I enjoy the game world, stories, and the combat and pvp and I would hate to see the game die because it runs like garbage. A lot of MMO's are/have been released with great graphics and 60 fps gameplay, I get 20-40 but at the cost of everything looking like grey blobs. Optimization is also something that will attract new players and keep them, there is no point in having such a beautiful game if you're punished heavily by actually having it look good.
Optimization benefits everyone, at every level of the game. There are fan tweaks but making the game playable at a stable framerate isn't the job of the fans, it should be on the priority list of the devs, atleast moreso than releasing more swimwear.

A lot of the fan guides involve reducing/eliminating certain UI elements to improve performance, the best being allied buff bars.
Elite Bar can be hidden, Ally, and your own buffs can now be hidden/reduced, and most of the UI can be hidden when you enter combat.
Velika have more players thus more thing to render. That's why even you're using lowest setting in Velika won't do anything much than outside world.
But weird thing to say that when I use preset 1 and 6 with Real Optimization set to 0 at Velika, it's pretty same FPS. But in dungeon or BG, it's different story though.
I'm not saying it hasn't been suggested or considered at HQ, I'm criticizing that the game has been out for years and the focus remains on pumping out swimsuits rather than making the game run at anything other than mediocre levels of performance. The priority should be performance, which will improve gameplay and retain and attract players, not nickel and diming everyone through the cash shop until the game dies.
If you don't understand game development, just sit in the corner and be quiet.
So optimization isn't part of that development process? There is nothing wrong with wanting the game to run better. Hardware has gotten vastly stronger since the games release yet it runs like trash. It is only beneficial to you, me, and everyone else if optimization was part of the continual development plan, which so far, has not been their concern.
It doesn't matter if it benefits everyone if they either can't do it, or don't see it as a priority issue. Optimization of games is mostly something the West complains about the most, not the East. While they do complain, it's not to the point a lot of them quite a game like Americans would. Guess which region they care about more? Games not running as well as they could is fairly normal from Korean MMORPGs. It's one of the differences you'll notice between their games and those developed in NA. The fact people consider BNS to be a pretty "optimized" Korean game (when it's not), just shows how little people expect their games to be optimized. This is why a lot of their games tend to be visually simple or instance based to minimize these problems.
BHS has already acknowledged the game started running terrible months ago in an interview, and all they've done is made options to hide the UI in combat without editing your client.
It is. But I don't think the guy who's skill is drawing pretty pictures and animating would be particularly good at optimising the game. You are basically asking why the electrician is working on the lights instead of fixing the plumbing. Also, if you bought some of that new hardware, it wouldn't run like trash. But that'd require you to know what to buy and be bale to afford it.
