Warrior tanking
Hello everyone. Sorry for funky english but after I saw that 30raid sh8t I just cannot... I want to make request for 120man raid - 1 per month - drops everything including speed potions and bugatti mount. Cool.
But actually I want to ask BlueholeStudio (tentatively yeah?) to do something about warrior' tanking. I need to attack sh8ts all time to get my aggro - to be cool tank, but instead... I'm half time blockin' and beggin' healer (oh god-healer!) to watch me cuz that mitigation crap is... crap. Mitigation in hard-modes? Wow really?
What problem to make something similar to brawlers attacks? Like add defense effect to torrent blow, to rain of blows, add defense effect after pounce. And we got another brawler? No, play style is different, skills are different. And (by the way) lancers got a little already (wallop).
No warrior tanking? Ok, maybe do something to aggro system then? Not like 1 hit and arrgo're yours till the end of fight. Not like play freakin' brawler (no its cool I like it, but I play warrior, bummer). Some aggro indicator for tanks? Like your have to fill it to 100% and aggro is yours, no +15 b8tches can disturb boss. You're attackin', you're blockin' = you're cool. You're goofin' (no attackin'), you're eatin' damage (no blockin') = you haz 0% arrgo. Your job is to have 100% aggro and keep it by your actions during fight. And you should have some to indicate how right your actions as well.
For now warrior... I use all aggro skills, attackin' like f8ckin' energizer rabbit... and wow orange thing on that gunner, cuz gunner haz orange wings on weapon and 20ms ping. Cool sh8ts.
Tanking is NOT only orange circle under you feet, it's about positioning, additional endurance debuff, dps and being tough tank dude in the party.

Warrior has the strongest block of 4 tanks. The block value of cross parry is around 2x as much as what the description on the weapon says, like 120k damage.
At normal lachelith, your block will not get penetrated even if you have the curse. Meanwhile lancer and brawler will have trouble.
At nightmare lachelith, if you inevitably get the curse, the last hit of enraged right-left-right attacks will only bleed through you like 60k HP. Other tanks just get killed.
So you need to utilize your block because it has huge advantage. However, warrior recovers RE very slow so you need to learn instant block to minimize the RE consumption.
The real trouble for warrior tank is aggro because warrior tank doesn't deal enough damage. Threatening crystals can't help warrior tanks to win an aggro fight against dragon-crit ambush sorcerer, ninja because their spike damage is insane.
There are a lot of warriors who only play astance, they are the troubles to you because you do not have scythe available which is your main source of aggro generation.
All of problems will be solved after warrior rework.
brawler cant fix no hands and no brain for tank ( tank skilled know about endurance debuff, positioning,)
warrior need a be realy fixed for be a tank again ( because now only realy skilled and gearing warriors can tank )
same for fail berseker tanks ( they only tank with positioning )
They have no choice at this point. They changed the way tanks work when they introduced brawler as the new DPS-tank (before, warrior had held that spot, and obviously wartank DPS was much lower than brawler). The only way to equalize tanks after that was nerf hueler a little, buff lancer's DPS by a large amount, and since wartank has remained broken ever since (and can't hold aggro even with like 5 aggro % buffs), they now have to buff wartank damage by a massive amount as well.
Brawler ruined it, tbh. I preferred the old way of tanking when lancers and wars were basically just meat shields rather than standalone DPS, but lancers did need help back then, so they fixed certain problems but created others.
I'm hyped af for the revamp, as someone who has played both lancer and wartank, and vastly prefers warrior. The only thing missing is something making warrior unique from just straight DPS like brawler is (which is what BHS had promised when they talked about tank balancing - every class having their own unique niche in tanking).
I agree with with what Yamazuki and Catorii mentions. As an old lancer main since 2014, I can tell you that I miss the old days of tanking. When the new meta happened during brawler and then later fihm/sshm patches, it was either adjust or bust. I think the new meta is the same because I used to play as a dps lancer before in the old days. I kept aggro better that way but I always had to work hard for everything.
In the new meta nowadays, when I expect dps outputting 1.5m-2m, I have to match with them. Same concept applied in the old days when I want to keep aggro, I had to match consumables and keep up my rotations as much as possible. The only difference now is that people actually expect lancers to be a frontal dps but at the same time maintain tanking responsibilities such as positioning, party mechs and all that good stuff.
And I wont lie about the dps numbers. Lancers can sometimes out dps some dps classes or match certain ones. It's no surprise there really. People would rather take a lancer who dishes over 1m+ in dps than a lancer who does near 500k/s with same gear. I've seen some lancers in Imperator gear who do 500k/s and that is really sad. The potential for lancer is amazing but some people don't know how to unlock it the right way. The skill gap is very big amongst lancers atm. Same can be said about brawlers. This why a lot of people when they look for a good tank, it's hard to find good ones because all good ones are in statics or busy with guild/friends.
As for warrior tanking, I'm happy for people who play warrior class. Their patience will pay off when revamp comes. At least this may solve the "need tank lfg" a bit. I know there are a lot great warrior tanks out there who do a much better job than most lancers and brawlers.
