Ambush Boxes
I am not sure of why they implemented this (and the previous Imperator boxes) in game. I been playing Tera since it's first closed betas, and I must say that I have never saw our playerbase so small, and is shrinking by the day, out of all players on my friends list (which is full) only 4-5 people login daily at moment.
They just released the new dungeons and are already giving away Ambush boxes, now since they killed the PvP with CS being lvl65 only, FWC equalized, removal of alliance, CU being an utter failure (which already drove a lot of people away over the past 3~ months), make possible to get a box with the gear piece without the need to craft it is just a shot in the game's own foot.
We barely have anything left to do, and with gear so quickly and easily given away, it will just make people achieve the end of the line faster, get bored and quit. Maybe I am the only one who have this opinion, but honestly all we don't need right now are more reasons for people to stop playing.

Is there anything left to do in this game at all besides dungeons? Also you can farm BGs to buy materials and craft Ambush, so you don't need to -only- run dungeons.
I am sure I made my point very clear: The issue I see is that by handling gear like this makes achieving the best gear too easy, and Tera is all about gear farming.
It doesn't matter with how many people you need to share the drops, the point is handle the top gear that you can trade to other people.
In my raid, someone actually got an ambush box. I think it was in phase 2 or 3. Didn't clear phase 4 yet.
Rally quests don't drop them in our build, though Civil Unrest does.
In the end, getting one piece of gear isn't the end-all. You still need to enchant it, deal with rolls, and consider all your other pieces. I don't really think the problems with player retention are directly tied to the ability to earn gear through things like this, because it's not as if the average person is able to gear up that much more quickly via this method than other methods given the random distribution. Besides this, people have often complained that TERA's gear grind is just running dungeons over and over, so trying to make it possible to earn gear from a variety of different methods isn't necessarily so horrible (even if the current method could be improved). Given that you need good gear to be able to participate successfully in the latest content (the new raid), it makes sense that it would be eased somewhat this patch.
Besides all that... I think there's merit in reconsidering somewhat the assumption that the only thing that keeps people playing an MMO is remaining on a constant gear treadmill. If anything, I think the fact the game has only been a treadmill that resets every 6 months has been one of the things that has worn some long-time players out over time. Of course I'm not saying that everyone should just have everything handed to them, but I think there's merit in breaking the pattern somewhat and providing other reasons for people to keep playing.
Why do you need Ambush if you hate dungeons?
Sure if you wanna farm BG's until the end of time, since it takes 160k credits for 1 Lady's Handkerchief, and waiting for 10+ minutes at a time for a queue to pop.
Where in my post did I say that I hated dungeons? I said that not everyone likes doing them, meaning there are players that don't.
Agree in my opinion I like to see epic world bosses that take a raid to kill, with real mechanics in which the first raid to tag is the only one to get loot to cut back on the zerg lag festival. Have them drop Ambush boxes, make content that is more lag free, where action combat is a real thing and not just stand still with plus 15 gear and spam abilities while you get 0-1 FPS
Except that rally bosses are already scripted by certain guilds, who would obviously have the advantage if the first raid to "tag" a boss was the only one that got rewards. That would make it even worse than it already is.
