If that were true then games wouldn't be popular since the vast majority of them were gender-locked to males, even past Korean games most characters were males... People are just complaining because the opposite is happening in recent years.
It has to do a lot with the preferences of people too. The thing with with TERA, in my own opinion, is that gender locking to female is kind of controversial, specially here in NA when the current classes gender locked are either toddler-like looking wearing very skimpy armors and costumes and full grown girls with the body of a model using the exact same skimpy armors. I know that over there in Korea, this is normal, but in NA is seen with different eyes, and that is why i think most people are uncomfortable with gender locking, even myself sometimes.
.. but every new class they'd added since then have been both race- and gender-locked.
You missed the point, for ages in not only korea but the rest of the world, lots and lots of classes have been locked to being male only. Do you have any idea how many games in general have had more male locked characters in the past 20 years?
We don't even know if it's locked or not yet.
At least until you realize they're only doing it because it's easy and makes them money. If most people play as Elin or Castanic females, it isn't as profitable for them to develop the assets needed for every race and gender when they add a new class in when they can just develop the assets for that are the most popular, release it, and make a ton of money with very little work.
That's why they are doing it, and why they'll continue to do it. The next new class will be female-only. I guarantee it.
What point?
But really, trying to turn that around is, well. -Shrug-
Going from not gender locked to gender locked makes lots of sense in this case. (Just not to you.)
Tera doesn't look like it's making that money, as far as I've seen we've got the largest non paying player group while the servers have high requirements. BHS is only getting a small amount from their publishers as far as I can see. So they end up with the problem that the new class can only have x amount of work done. Why waste money they probably don't even have and putting it into something that will benefit a relatively small group of players that is the loudest and constantly whine in the forums.
You already going nuts about a new class before it's announced, before you get details on anything besides a picture. You ignored any point brought up against you. And you're painting a picture of the evil development company trying to hurt a little innocent group of players.
Stop running around like a headless chicken screaming the sky is falling and chill.
And I get it, they are a business. They exist solely to make a profit, but that makes them your enemy. As a consumer, you should be demanding the greatest amount of value for your dollar instead of defending a company that wants you give you as little as possible.
Instead of adding 4 classes that are gender-locked, they could have added just 2 and expanded them with each new patch to allow for more races and both genders to use them. But they don't. They just keep adding more content they feel is going to make them the most amount of money, which means TERA is nothing but a cash cow to them. They don't care about you. They don't really care about the game. They care about it only as a medium through which they can extract dollars from your wallet.

The greatest value for my money is dungeons, better PvP, class balance, and more classes. (Aka more gameplay!)
The greatest value for you is something to go "the sky is falling."
Lancer awakened, dps stance
Are new classed like Elin>Cast/High>human
and then rotate like that?
Maybe that is the trend here
Dungeons? Yay, we get a 30 man raid that few people bother with because there are few guilds that have 25+ players that are perfectly coordinated.
Better PvP? Yay, we got Velika Uprising. It's so cool, only 5 guilds bothered to participate last time. I guess Kumas makes up for that, huh?
Class Balance? Yay, it's so cool that Reapers and Archers and Brawlers and Slayers and Ninjas and Berserkers are all balanced.
More classes? Yay, OP Reapers. Yay, OP Gunners. Yay, OP Brawlers. Yay, OP Ninjas. Oh my god, so many new classes. It's so amazing, and everything is so balanced and yay.
I think you're blind. BHS spends more time coming up with new cosmetic items and mounts than they do working on PvE and PvP combined. And they're too focused on adding more female-only classes that older classes are constantly being left behind.
BHS: "Oh yes, Berserkers, we love you too. Oh so much, we do. We're just going to throw Flurry of Blows into Fiery Rage and decrease the duration. And also it isn't an instant cast like Flurry of Blows was. And also if you use it with Intimidation active, you have to watch a little debuff icon to know when you can have it again. Yay, it's so easy for you now. And also, if you increase the duration with glyphs, it also increases the cooldown because we're shortsighted and lazy and just don't care."
Spearwoman, not spearman.
I'm blind? You are the one trying to make an example of a "problem" with the highest dps class.
Also you just have to correct him on gender right?
