How is the game doing?
Hello everyone. First of all I'm just gonna introduce myself really quick and explain my connection to TERA and then move to the main topic of this thread.
I joined TERA right back when it became Free-To-Play. I joined the European servers and the game was doing pretty well. There were people all around and Gameforge hadn't started to do their evil things just yet.. so around when Gunner was going to be a thing, Gameforge did its typical trademark and the game was dying fast. A huge chunk of the player population left and I went with them, joining the American servers that year on the Tempest Reach. The game felt more alive and friendly. Seemed like Enmasse was around and I loved it. I had a blast. It was with no doubt my favorite MMO. But things started to fall apart around last year's "Black Friday". The idea of raising the EMP rates even though everything was on sale is already a bad thing, but keeping those rates high even when the sales are over is just.. unfair, really unfair. I started to lose interest around that time. I eventually left around Christmas and would pop up time to time to check on my characters and friends. Well, these 'friends' are long gone as well. I attempted to contact them, but no luck. I also heard about the great 'Dawnflop' and how much of a fail the Ninja class was(not being able to get as much attention as the previous classes and that's a no wonder really).
The game also changed a lot. I was okay with the new Crafting and Upgrading systems and the overall Avatar Weapons, but removing gear customization... and the possibility of endgame players to be able to randomly join a low-level instance was just harsh.. Also, no more Island of Dawn. The whole concept of teamwork is gone and this new island which barely makes any sense into the story(which is a major fail by itself now) is mostly instanced and you can't do them with friends. BAMs are too easy now.. but.. how is the game now? How's the population? I really would like to give it another shot, but I feel like I'd be wasting my time again. I guess it's just that "nostalgia".

Its Terable!
Your experience ingame largely depends on your network/ guild/ friends/ etc.
I've not heard about the Ninja being a fail, but if you put that much weight into other player's opinion before trying it out yourself, you should not return to Tera. Keep in mind that most of the Tera players are not in the forums but playing only. So those who are happy with playing the game don't voice it out in your thread here.
my current ping is 325ms. oh i used to play at 245ms (during brawler patch). im from sea btw.
PvE is alive. New dungeons. new 30 man raid.
PvP is dead basically. even power hours can't revive it. 1-2 matches on at a time with up to 30 min qs.
Also. all battlegrounds are now EQ gear. Pointless to progress gear wise for only Battlegrounds.
