Are Ninja Weak in Pvp?

edited May 2016 in PvP Discussion
I'm been doing pvp and it seems like every ninja I see just dies and doesn't do well in pvp either through lack of damage or being extremely squishy and dying in 1 combo.
People were all talking about how ninja were going to be one of the strongest classes in pvp but right now they look worse than slayers right now.
If you look at the ranking boards as well there are no top ninjas anywhere to be found. So is Ninja really that weak in pvp right now?

  • Maybe because it's just new and nobody's mastered it so well yet. So, yea, give it time. Maybe it will in the next weeks or months or maybe not. :)
  • I don't think they are weak. They have insane damage if you combo properly, while having a clear weakness being super squishy.

They require a bit more finesse than the usual new class release, since you actually need to chain your staggers together to play them effectively. Half the ninjas you see trying to PvP are just trying to play them like Brawlers, i.e mashing face on keyboard.

I suspect that people are going to be calling them OP once ninjas get better at their class. For now, I'm just grateful that this class isn't like the gunner/reaper/brawler release where new players that have never touched PvP before were taking a dump on PvP veterans.
  • If you know how to play ninja you can be really powerfull, maybe squishy but they have soo many staggers.

They're far from weak in PVP, yeah they are squishy but they can put out the damage to make up for it. Just earlier today I was fighting a lancer (both of us in dread+12) and I dropped him from 100% > 20% in a single combo in about 4-5 seconds.

A pretty potent combo that I've been doing is...
1; Start off with your dash skill for a stagger (Jagged Path)
2; Time it and use combo attack right as they come off of stagger to re-stagger them
3; Use Double Cut as they come off of stagger to re-stagger
    4; Same as step #2
5; Stun during that last stagger with Chakra Thrust
    6; Use Skyfall
    7; Use Circle of Steel
8; Use Impact Bomb to knock them into the air
9; Use Leaves of the Wind
10; Use Blade Storm to keep them in place as they land
11; ??? (I usually Jagged Path back at them and pop Thousand Cuts)
    12; Profit

That alone will drop most people in EQ gear that aren't tanky such as Lancers and this is assuming you have the skills glyphed for powerlink. (The above was all back crits and dropped the lancer down to 20%)

They're not weak, the problem is this class isn't brawler, you can't simply smash your face against the keyboard and expect to win.
I've nailed quite a few people, others i have outright mauled within seconds. Ninjas have damage, a LOT of damage, if you find one that can use the staggers and the class advantages properly, you will watch your health melt.
  • They are stronk.
  • Ninja are super strong in PVP but it takes alot practise and skill to play it. I got a Starfall Gunner (even when im PVE Player) i have like 350:60 kills in FWC. Which i call okaish for beeing mainly PVE but i know what i do.

On my Starfall Ninja im like 20:20 kills only but thats the fact i still dont know what to do and when to. Yes its super squishy with cloth, a couple Hits are deadly. Otherwise youre deadly too. With the Ninja i can kill (non Fodder Players) sometimes super fast or Defense Stacked Healers as example which i barely can kill with the gunner at all.

Ninja relays on combos, super fast attacks and some movement skills which are tough to control on that speed. you using decoy jutsu in FWC ... good luck to see where you end up behind. Jagged path the same, so i end up often in situations which i didnt expect. Overall it plays more like a warrior and aiming on single targets, sure it has a couple area skills but they dont do alot dmg, Fodder people even stopped whining about brawlers in FWC now, they cry about Ninjas...

  • Yes. Ninjas are so weak in pvp. Please buffs us more, but this time with more sharks with laser beams attached to their heads.

Zzzz was hoping to see a 3's video not CS.

But yeah Ninjas aren't bad in pvp, they hurt a lot but once you catch them, they die fast. Just wait for more people to get better at using it.

  • I'm not too sure what kind of nerfs ninja gets, but even with being so squishy, I think ninja could stand a good 10-15% overall damage nerf (except avalanche...maybe just me but every time I've even managed to make a connection with it in pvp it does like...2k damage?) I think they are pretty well balanced otherwise tbh. Actual skill required coupled with the squish, should have high damage, just not quite that high
  • I think ninja's are well rounded class atm because of the amount of punishment you receive for making a simple mistake. 1 stun you're going to lose 80-90% of your health guaranteed. The low defense is a sacrifice for the high DPS.

My gunner has nearly 4 times more defense than my ninja. Gunner has 2 pieces +9 and 2 pieces +12, T7 gear. Meanwhile, my Ninja has all +12 dread. Thats a huge difference.

This class just isn't face roll, spacebar, spacebar, spacebar class like the other ones. Notice there is hardly any space bar chain combo's.

The class is intense and fast paced. It's not easy task to master thats for sure.

  • Requires a brain unlike Reapers, Gunners, Brawlers. I can give you that.

  • Ninjas - High damage potential high skill requirement
Brawler - High damage potential no skill required
    Inb4 brawler player reply

    Ninja OP thread- near none
    Brawler OP thread - everywhere
  • A few people liked the first video, so I went ahead and picked a few more clips for just how TERRIBLE Ninja are at pvp.
