Things You Don't Want to Hear/See in a PUG

Back when I played another game (not sure about ToS on naming other games), in the forums they had a thread called "Things You Don't Want to Hear Healing a PUG". They were my favorite thing to read. Every day people would post short or long stories about funny or terrible dungeons or raids they PUGed. It wasn't meant to call people out, but simply vent frustrations and read amusing stories about bad tanks or DPS.

So I thought I'd try and start one here. Share your story, don't name people. You can be surprised by the stupidity or ignorance of some people.

Here's my first one:

Queued up on my healer for Golden Labyrinth, get in and first thing tank says is "Relax, I'm best tank in Brazil." And kept repeating it up to the second boss....where the tank just afks. So the ninja, zerker, and I wait a couple minutes and then decide to take care of the second boss (the other party member afked after first boss). The zerker went tanky and did a great job, but the ninja kept giving me a heart attack because she kept getting hit for 3/4 of her hp and would run away from when I tried to heal her. After we kill the boss, the ninja leaves.

On our way to the third boss, the tank comes back and says to relax cause they're the best tank in Brazil as she runs towards the second boss we've already killed. We tell her that we are on the third boss now. She takes her sweet time getting there, cause she wants to wait for our other dps that afked at the first boss. We finally make it through, but that tank was definitely not the best tank in Brazil. Either that or they must all be really terrible.

Another time I queue of the Necromancer's Tomb or whatever. No tank, but that's normally not a big deal. We have a gunner, sorc, war, and ninja or reaper. None of them are wanting to tank or lead. They keep waiting for someone else to initiate battle, so I keep starting battles. I finally tell them at the boss that someone needs to step up and start the fights because I prefer healing others over trying to heal myself. The gunner does but is really shy about it. We get to the boss with the spikes on the floor. All of the dps stand by the entrance to the room and pull him....in other words he keeps resetting. Around the 10th time they finally read that I've been telling them to get closer so he's stops resetting.

That boss fight was a mess. If I healed someone I automatically got threat. So I then had to heal myself as they kept standing on the spikes. One person goes down, I keep trying to heal myself. They auto res and die on the spikes again shortly after. I finally die because I'm having to heal and no one can do enough dps to peal off me. I know healers can get threat easily, but it felt like they weren't even trying. I dropped after that boss cause I knew it would be a super long run.

I had a good laugh reading this! Regardless, the horde of toxicity and just, bad players will be flushed out at the endgame DG's. I personally had a good time leveling. Seems you just got bottom of the barrel. Best of luck~

I'm glad you enjoyed it. I figured that they'd weed themselves out, but it can still be fun to read the horror stories.

Here's one of my derps.

I keybind 1-0, ctrl+1 - ctrl-6, and alt+1 - alt+6. Some of you can already see where this is going. Well for a couple of dungeons I would randomly not get any response when I would push down my skills. So I kept missing lots of my blocks.

Finally in one dungeon I used a keybind for one of those quest items you use to destroy things.....and it hit me. Alt also shows the cursor (which is what I would always use to show my cursor, it just never clicked). To which I explained to the group the problem. You definitely don't want to hear your tank say that they suck because they used alt+ as part of their keybinds.

Did you realise that best tank in brazil is a very sarcastic term, considering that they always say brazillians are horrible at gaming.

I actually didn't realize that. The broken English made me think he was serious. Well serious that he thought he was the best tank from Brazil.

I've seen plenty of terrible Brazilian players in other mmos but never realized that saying had become a joke.

joined an rmhm on my priest with a mystic. on last boss mystic proceeded not to drop motes. cue confusion from dps. "i like it better when we group up with priest" just let me solo heal then lol

Today i got party RMNM as tank. All was good till last boss. Healer keep dying all the time from every possible mechanic. After wipe, one DPS changed to mystic. In that time, priest started to cry it his first time, so he can die whenever he want. We menaged to kill boss. i told him to go RMNM practice wiith guild or via IMS instead of waste time of another players. He said: I do what i want, then left party.
