Are you willing to go to work and not get paid? That's how they see it if they make a class for males. They have to feel their work will bring them a return in what was invested, otherwise, they won't do it.
???? Yet people kept spamming that stupid chart where TERA is in top 5 or even higher on the list of "p2p games" (lol?).

So let me get this straight. TERA is up there in profit with the big boys, yet BHS don't have the resources to spend on making non-gender-locked classes like the other big boys do.

Sounds like a legit chart indeed. One of them is wrong and it's likely it's the chart.

You do know they don't work only on TERA, right?

The other big boys dont work in a single game too.

And said big boys have bigger teams.
Every business grows with more profits. Which means that if BHS has a small team it means their profits are [filtered].

No seriously, do you know what type of companies keep pushing cheap content and gender locked non stop (and only female etc), plus copying everything? Tons of craptastic korean weekly MMOs. There's more of them than you can imagine, they all have an expected life of ~6 months to 1 year (of course they stay up for longer, but by that point they're mostly dead). Made for a quick buck.

    Sounds like BHS these days.

Pretty much nails it for asian MMO's these days

Thinking of Blade and Soul, Black Desert Online, super hyped games that went south in about 3 months lol. Whats remarkble is Tera used to have a different nature or BHS had a very different vision for the game back in the day.

Now its all about the moneys lol just to narrowmind...

I kept saying forever that that chart was completely suspect and nonsensical. People kept making BS claims about it, like it said it anything about profitability when it was talking about revenue. Plus, BHS is a private company that doesn't release its finances; where are they pulling those numbers from? What about all the other MMO makers that were completely absent from the chart, like Square-Enix? They called it "P2P games" because it had an optional subscription, while games with required subscriptions were left off? It didn't hold up to the slightest bit of scrutiny in the first place...

I don't agree with all the implications you're drawing from this whole thing, but the idea that TERA is just raking in the money but they're too cheap to re-invest in the game just does not fit any of the actual evidence (lay-offs, outside investments, partnerships with competitors, etc.). TERA is a niche game in a genre that is actually shrinking (despite an increasing amount of niche games splitting the pie), and is being maintained by a small live services team. It's not the same ambitious game they envisioned a long time ago, but that doesn't mean it still doesn't have its good points.
  • Just stop dreaming. We all know TERA is literally a porn game. BHS developers are only interesting in building slutty female races and cosmetics.
