I'd actually appreciate it if you did. Having never played a game with housing in it, I find it quite hard to imagine the benefits of just having a house. I mean, I can see it as a fun minigame that ends up boring after the first week hype is over.
It depends on how it's done, the issue is, BHS is more than capable of make a system that just makes housing look bad. Look at their failed attempt at housing for ranked guilds (Sky Castle). It was boring, offered nothing other than an over sized camp fire, and did nothing. It was "just there".

On the other hand, I could totally see player housing as a revamp on the crafting/gathering system. Though I'm having a hard time making something like that fit in Tera as a game.
They could change a lot of things and tie it to housing, but the issue is they had an already bad crafting system and killed it over time. The game lacks a lot of other things that other games have had and are starting to have as a fairly normal thing. They focus too much on the gear cycle and don't add much else beyond exploitable group content like Rally, CU, Alliance, etc.

As for Player Housing, no thanks! There are many places in Aborea that people have yet to explore. :chuffed:
All housing would change is potentially less people afking in HW/Trading Post/Velike/Outside RM/LK. You can do your exploring whether there's housing or not.
  • It always amazes me how there are people who would shoot down someone else's desires when it doesn't even effect them.

I'd imagine people have a certain...idea of what player housing is and it seems fairly consistent as nobody feels the need to give details. So, I'm curious as to what it does, I guess. Is it an instance you buy furniture for and then invite your friends over for a tea party? Is it more like Farmville within an MMO? What is the purpose of player housing?

It still depends... Sky Castles were housing, and people didn't like that since it was basically just a building to say they did something. I don't know what kind of housing people are asking for, they aren't really referencing any to games I've played, nor do they explain what the housing had they liked. People generally just like owning something, and working towards it, but I find it unlikely BHS will provide a housing system people would like, especially given Sky Castles were poorly done, and they did say they were considering guild housing as a replacement. Just look at any "feature" they add, it's normally poorly done compared to other games. Sky castles, flying mounts, any form of leader boards, etc.

  • i enjoyed Wildstar housing idea, allowed for plenty customization, aswell as "mini games" that were exclusive to what FAB-kits you placed in your plot.
I think some also included some sort of mini-dungeons/instances

I don't think having a chunk of people split between different major cities, instance teleports, split on different channels in the case of HW/instances, "afk" because they ignore 99% of people is interaction. There's also the memory issue many people have where they can't sit in crowded portions of HW.

Well that's your opinion then. If you go to Lumbertown, Crescentia, or even Highwatch, you can interact with people there who are generally bored and doing some really goofy stuff as a result. The ability to go to a major town and see a group of people in the more popular areas is what makes a game feel alive; housing takes people away from that, makes the cities and towns emptier than they already are. That's my main point.

Edited for grumpiness, was mad about something else when I typed this up.

That's...absolutely pointless. Tera's world is huge, you can easily find a place to hold your tea parties.

@Yamazuki It really depends on what they decide to do. Sky Castle weren't popular because, well, they didn't actually -do- anything. And getting to them was too much trouble if you didn't have the spot in journal. If they make player housing that has an actual purpose, that could be interesting. But you are probably right and it'd just be a room you can buy furniture for(that you can't even use because /sit is not suited for it and there's no /sleep or anything else one could do in a house) and it'll ultimately be a waste of development resources.

It is for you, not for others, that I will agree on or it would not be so popular in other games as well as something that was offered as a perk during BETA promo and meet with excitement,

Those functions could be added, they've added additional emotes to the game before. It's just a matter of BHS actually trying if they attempted it. Also, wasting resources is their specialty anyways, it wouldn't be anything new.

I really love TERA, but it's never going to be my main game without player housing. For Pete's sake, even ESO is getting housing!

because tera is communist, you cant own your house and land, you sleep outside under the stars :3

it would be nice if i can sleep outdoor with great weather, great sky and no bugs bothering me, and everyone else is doing the same.
But no, it is cold outside now LOL
