If Tera were to get a housing system, I hope that BHS will make the top housing content only available for ridiculous quantities of gold (e.g. tens of millions for the most expensive houses, millions for some of the most expensive furniture). I understand that game companies need to make money, too, but (1) making all housing content available in the cash shop would be a complete waste of housing's potential as a gold sink and (2) the players who want to buy houses/furniture with real money would sell EMP to purchase them, anyways, so why not remove some gold from circlation in the process?

After the removal of stamina system, housing become an even less considerable idea now.
Unless they add certain buff like "well rested" that increase your stats for a duration.

The benefits are purely social based, in other games you find clusters of friends escaping to their little homes to hang out between other activities. Depending on their interest they will hang out in voice and talk, they will write fan fic stories together, they will go over politics, it is like going over a friends house for lunch or dinner. It gives them a sense of a home in game, a place where people from over the world can feel more connected to each other. It has little appeal to those who are here mainly for PvE or PvP. Just like PvE where gear gives people a sense of pleasure, housing does the same for social players. Myself I think TERA could stand to grow a lot more on the social aspect, the less the game offers the smaller it gets.

They can build community centers too, just like my campus in my undergrad years, where ppl came out from their little dorm and gathered in community centers or other public yet homey place. Before they have guild castle but that is just another isolated little instance and it is not fun inside comparing how it looks from outside.

It depends on how it's done, the issue is, BHS is more than capable of make a system that just makes housing look bad. Look at their failed attempt at housing for ranked guilds (Sky Castle). It was boring, offered nothing other than an over sized camp fire, and did nothing. It was "just there".

I'd imagine people have a certain...idea of what player housing is and it seems fairly consistent as nobody feels the need to give details. So, I'm curious as to what it does, I guess. Is it an instance you buy furniture for and then invite your friends over for a tea party? Is it more like Farmville within an MMO? What is the purpose of player housing?

That's...absolutely pointless. Tera's world is huge, you can easily find a place to hold your tea parties.

@Yamazuki It really depends on what they decide to do. Sky Castle weren't popular because, well, they didn't actually -do- anything. And getting to them was too much trouble if you didn't have the spot in journal. If they make player housing that has an actual purpose, that could be interesting. But you are probably right and it'd just be a room you can buy furniture for(that you can't even use because /sit is not suited for it and there's no /sleep or anything else one could do in a house) and it'll ultimately be a waste of development resources.

It is for you, not for others, that I will agree on or it would not be so popular in other games as well as something that was offered as a perk during BETA promo and meet with excitement,

They promised guild housing during beta and we eventually got it. You can see how much excitement Sky Castles got.

Yes I did, I seen our guild Desire get very excited over it as well as other guilds. I seen people log on and go Let Go run things. I seen friends come together to do BR again that offered no real reward and find ways to make it entertaining such as Adventures in Instance Matching: Dapper Edition. Could it have been done better, of course it could have. I seen our members enjoy being LvL 4 and having the Oasis under the Castle, high diving off a wing into the water. I seen them hanging out inside as a group of friends interacting and having fun. Our Guild that was 215 unique accounts at the time enjoyed Sky Castles and I know others did as well.

This excitement must be why 4 runs a day got me top accumulated score for 2 seasons straight(aka, the only 2 seasons I bothered with it). I even skipped some days but everyone was just so into it, it didn't even matter.
