So I know i'd posted something similiar before, but...

Alright, seriously. I've done some reading on the forums and the only thing I've been able to deduce is that guillie(sp?), which sounds like the suit the snipers wore in call of duty, is not a very up-to-date gear set. So let's assume that I have a small amount of cash to contribute to this little project, what in the eff (berserker) do I need to do when I hit 65, as I'm nearly 60 now. Let me add that I'm not handicapped and have been playing MMO's since like 2004, so please let's not "hurr this is hrd" pls. aAlso, I have like sub 50 ms.

Okay, so. Gear progression (like names please) and how I might acquire them. Please, for the sake of my sanity, do not abbreviate (like IMS or w/e, I have no idea yet whatever the hell that means). First couple dungeons to learn, followed by some type of succession, as from everything I've seen does absolutely zero to describe the linear progression in any way that makes sense to a new player. I get the fact that you don't want my stupid [filtered] stumbling into a max tier dungeon, so please do help me in avoiding that best I can. Also, things like "I don't see the pizza" or whatever, also, means little to me as well, if you wouldn't mind giving me tips. I reiterate because it seems people forget that new players have no idea what you're referencing, though ironic as it sounds to state, people seem to forget all the time.

Lastly, I appreciate the help - I really do. I've tried independently to figure this out pre 65, but as I said I'm nearly there and still have no idea wtf the difference in literal terms a +9 and a +15 are, only that the +15 is an elitist tool (lol) and the +9 probably afk'd for a few months and came back? Oh, and I did figure out that it seems half of TERA (lolbrazil) apparently has like 200-400ms playing online games. God save you, I know I'd implode if I had to deal with that.

Thx again luvs

I just googled Tera Gear Progression. And that was the first thing that popped up.
  • -.
Thanks, though is this up to date? I've found many times in MMO expansions/revamps/updates that some content is erased ENTIRELY and I end up following a puzzle that doesn't exist.
  • Also, I did want to say hello to my little friends from down South (hello BR, morde es #1, huashuashuas). It's very good to see you guys again, you're a very friendly community that I enjoy playing with much (even when you suicided against the other team in league). Don't mind the jokes now and then about you guys being herpaderps in games - for a long time that was Americans, during those early StarCraft years, and to some extent still is. We've passed the torch of honor to you - hold it proudly lol <3
  • Hmm, after reading that guide this seems to be a lot more time invested than I'd originally considered and now I'm questioning my main. Are Lancers fun? Because I've got the ping to sustain playing one and I've seen that there seems to be a general high demand for them... I guess I just don't want to be locked into any certain class and then come to find out it's unnecessary or unwanted =\
  • It says it was last updated 5 days ago.....so that should be recent enough.

I think Lancers are fun. Tanks and healers are usually in high demand, especially good ones. I've heard more often that good takes are even harder to find. Your best bet is to find a class you like, because you don't want to be stuck playing a class you hate.

If you're good enough, your class shouldn't matter too much. The only caveat is that DPS can be a lot easier to replace, making them "more disposable".

I've seen ninjas ("highest" dps class) do less then the healer and I've seen slayers do rather well ("lowest" dps class). Most groups will want a person who can play their class well over a person who plays a top dps class poorly.
  • Yeah, I get that. I'm sure I could figure out how to play any of the classes, and you're right - dps are disposable. I mained a Mage in WoW for years and a Whitemage in FFXIV, and I have mixed reviews on this. Yes, DPS are easy to replace - however - there's more slots for them. So, when I was leading a static (or raid team) as a healer it was fine, but trying to find one sometimes was a nightmare. Believe it or not, there was many times where healers didn't simply 'come up missing', and sometimes when reflecting I found it easy to raid as a DPS competitively. I mean, when I'm sitting at T9 in FFXIV for what seemed like waiting for someone to drop dead, it could become rather discouraging, whereas DPS would reroll/server xfer/rage quit a team all the time, you usually didn't end up replacing a healer once you got to a certain point in end game, so I was assuming the same would hold true for a lancer.
  • ^I guess I maybe just answered my own question.......... TY XD lol
  • While what you are saying is true in some regards. From what I've read and seen, people are constantly looking for tanks or healers. There just aren't enough of them to go around.

When I played WoW and FFXIV, I never had issues getting into statics/raids as a healer, because there weren't as many people playing healers.

I mean, that was true, but there wasn't too many static groups on Turn 9 when I was, sooo... I mean I played on the FFXIV version of CH, so I was in one of four groups on the entire damned server so I guess that's what made me a little... piffed about the situation.

From your experience with TERA do you think theyd ever make zerker tank viable?

edit: you know what, I think I figured it out. I always hated DPS because playing classes like SMN (my dps alt for FFXIV) where I had like an obnoxious off GCD-related rotation, I hated having long DPS rotations as if they were more skillful. I mean, once you knew them you knew them, and it just became a little silly feeling to me, that's why I played a healer (esp on ps4). I do not miss bar-flipping with r1/r2/l1/l2, woo.

I guess I like Zerker because it focuses on the encounter, and managing that, more so than I guess any complex rotation, and then limits your ability to maneuver the encounter due to lack of iframes.
  • It doesn't sound like they are going to make zerker more tank orientated, but I'm not 100% sure.

Honestly, Lancer is really fun. I know it's a matter of opinion, though. Definitely read guides for them if you do decide to play (there's a GREAT lancer guide on Essential Mana that I'd link but I'm on mobile. it should come up if you google it though), because they're definitely one of the more complex classes than say, Brawler or most DPS. Plus parties will LOVE you, Lancers have amazing skills that boost the entire party's DPS and they make runs super fast. If you think you have the ping to manage it, I say try it out and see how you like it!

Also leveling Lancer =/= Lancer at 65. It gets a whole lot more fun + your parties actually respect you and let you run in first, lol.

Edit: I know someone already weighed in on this, but regarding Zerk tank, the future looks fairly grim for them. The Korean version of Tera gets updates 3-5ish months ahead of us and they have nothing coming to help Zerk tanks, so there isn't really anything in the near future. Considering how neglected and honestly shoehorned in they were in the first place, I kinda doubt they will get any attention. I'd say your only hope for that would be when/if they get around revamping Zerk as a whole (KTera is currently redoing/buffing old classes to make them more like the newer classes), but as of right now that doesn't seem to be in the works.
Zerk got some changes on December 1st in KTera, but it wasn't a revamp nor did it have anything to do with tanking iirc.
  • Hey I appreciate the feedback! I really do. So, last night I finally got evasive smash, and I've gotta say the damn thing feels pretty clunky. In fact, I'm so put off by the entire concept that I'm considering rolling other classes.

So the tank bit is scrapped - our buddy who originally leveled a DPS (nin) decided to reroll brawler (lul). We have someone who has one of everything, and the other individual is a reaper.

I guess the question I'm asking is assuming brawler, reaper, and idk what his main even is uh yeah who knows something dps, what do you think would be a good fit into that? We won't have a NIN anymore I'm pretty sure, but we have a reaper so do we even need a NIN?

I don't think we have a Sorc or Archer TBH so I think we'd be lacking RDPS, if anyone has some insight, unless Reaper counts as RDPS?
  • update: so apparently we only have a Mystic (who has the most variation of classes, like all of them, and most exp obv) a reaper/nin and a brawler. We have an archer/zerk already, so basically we have no sorc or priest. Thoughts between the two? I have a TON of both caster dps and healer dps from other games... was going to try something new, but meh. Thoughts?

Reaper is more mid ranged compared to Archer and Sorc. If you really want a ranged character and you're low ping, probably pick archer. Sorc is good, but you gotta get used to being locked in quite a lot of animations when casting your skills. Both are about equal (from what I've read unless it's incorrect) in terms of dps, so personal preference if you really want to have a ranged DPS in your party.

Ninja > Reaper. But with this game, as someone above said. You can still do [filtered] dps on the top dps class.
Ninja is still a good pick, mostly because of smokebomb giving everyone in the party a chance to avoid some mechanics by standing in it.

You can double up on dps classes if you so wish.
If you already have a mystic there's no real need for a priest. Double healer isn't used that much outside of learning runs (?) since their debuffs don't stack. And some other reason I forgot. But it could be nice to have a back up healer on someone in case the person playing mystic is busy and can't get on.
