Some things about Verno. DF boss
Just finished a low dps run on DF and, well, as a ninja I had to tank the guy for a LONG while. Whole run took eons but we managed, with only two guys alive at the end. Me and a gunner. Everyone else spent all their revives. x.x They were all good natured so nothing against them.
Anyway, I noted some things about this guy.
First, using some of the higher mobile ninja skills like Jagged path and double cut from behind the boss, I often went through or inside him. With double cut I end up inside the boss, and as I use thousand cuts I slowly get pushed back. (I do need to revisit my rotation to take advantage of more powerlinked glyphs, though, so I may later not use those two together) With Jagged path I end up straight at the other side looking away from the boss. So if any ninjas incorporate that skill in their rotation, mind that when fighting this guy. Not sure if it's a bugged collision box on the boss or if the skill removes the ninja's own collision box. This doesn't happen when attacking from the front. Something I was forced to do because of the boss mechanic and nobody else wanting to be in front after tank died like 12 times.
And about that mechanic. The boss is utterly blind. His range for the shrieking is way too small. You have to be practically hugging him. Just avoiding his adds for 3 seconds, just a meter or two from him but still straight in front, he still used that mechanic.
The other thing noted is the wave attack he does on low HP. This may present a problem with lancers who don't have a front dive evade. Though I think the one shot wave can be jumped. Not sure on that. Still keep in mind if you are a lancer to turn your camera backwards and use your backstep on the wave, or whatever other defensive measure you do as that class against unblockables.
Lastly. No idea if it's because of video problems or whatever, some of the attacks cannot be seen. I don't mean the pre-attack visual cues, but the attacks themselves. Doesn't always happen. Happened to me on my first run. Second run all was fine.
Anyway. Just leaving these here as heads up.

The last boss has some serious issues with the red lasers and the pink poison wave-- for me they never render whatsoever, making them impossible to dodge. At first I thought it was a preset issue 'cause I play on pretty low due to potato but I've been messing around with different settings with no improvement. Since this is just NM it's not a big deal but in HM both of those attacks are one-shot, not being able to see them is a huge issue.
Anyone else having the same issues? Or do the attacks always show up for you? pls halp
most often the first laser is the one that doesnt render. After that, they start to render all. other skills render just fine i think.
I've rolled forwards into Verno and only got out through backstab. Remember Yativio from Rift's Edge/Sabex? I had the same issue there.
And occasionally, the first laser doesn't load, but it does most of the time (though I do have quite a new rig, so that might have something to do with it).
you need to dodge faster than normal. So, if you backstep, don't wait until red laser get close to you, Just jump way faster. Think there is 2m hit box in front of the laser.
And, pink poison wave - it starts when the boss's HP at 30%. When the boss hit the ground 3 times with both arm, then he say's blah blah, then he will raise both arm again, that's time for tank to dodge. For range's, iframe when his both arms hit the ground again.
Also for the sake of info, these(laser and wave) aren't really one shot. You can survive if they just graze you. HM version will apparently be one shot, though.
This archer pov video shows a good run of the place, including even the best first boss strategy to avoid filling the whole floor with dot puddles.
(Same for ABHM Eme ... pls fix)
Odd. I haven't had any problems using decoy jutsu on Verno. In fact, it's been so far my go to skill to reset myself into position. thousand cuts starts from the middle inside and slowly pushes you outwards, but not always to where you want to be. Sometimes it pushes you to either the left or right sides. Of all skills, jagged path is the only one that's made my character run straight through him all the way to the other side, so I stopped using it for now till I figure a way to use it in a reliable way.
I hope this is some kind of joke...
Also, why there are no such issues in KTera?
