New to Tera and could use help to pick a class

I have never played Tera before. And I am bored as all heck of WoW now and I want to give this a try. What would be a noob friendly class to kinda ease me into the game? Or does it really matter? I don't know if it helps but I played a DPS/Heal Shaman, and a Tank warrior In WoW. Any help would be awesome thank you.

  • Mystic is the heal/DPS hybrid that summons minions. Lancer and Brawler are pure tanks, with Warrior and Berserker hybrid DPS/tank. Priest is heal, everything else is DPS.

I'd say pick one class and try it, see if you like it. You can delete the character immediately as long as they're lower than level 40, which will allow you to try another class.
  • 1. Try archer.
    2. Then try Priest.
    3. If you know dungeon mecha, try lancer or brawler. We need more tank.
  • As you played WoW before, the complexety rating you see upon creating a character does not apply for you. You will get intuitively into the game.

The classes are roughly WoW classic classes with no hybrid function. So the Tera priest is a WoW Holy priest, the lancer is a WoW warrior tank and so on. The Tera mystic may come close to a mixture of primarily a WoW healing shaman with some demons like a warlock.

While WoW focuses on strengthening one single character, Tera strongly supports playing multiple classes. This is why experienced players often have up to the max amount (16) characters with one being the main and the rest for crossfinancing (e.g. farming dailiy quests).

Perhaps something general: during my WoW time, it was common to sell and buy accounts as well as buy gold from gold sellers. I'd strongly advice not to try this in Tera. Leveling in Tera is done very fast and we have a legal method to buy gold in Tera. Despite that, Tera is more skill dependent than WoW classic (no idea waht it's nowadyas). When I was playing WoW classic, equipment was everything. In Tera, even with the BiS, one with no knowledge, experience is performing poor in Tera. So even buying BiS is not recommended at the beginning to speed things up.

Get yourself a BuddyUp code until level 9 and find some nice people to play with. Keep in mind that even in WoW no one really ever needed a guild with 200 members to personally play with.

All tanks are dps+tanks. They just have different levels of personal damage with Brawler and Lancer being the highest. Soon Warrior will be up there. I can't comment on the damage of Berserker tank, since I am not good with dpsing while tanking on it, and I have only seen two others.

The class you should start with depends on the role you want to play. Mystic at level 65 is easier (in my opinion) for healing, Slayer if you want to melee dps, and Sorc if you want to range dps. For tanking Lancer holds aggro with less effort than Warrior/Brawler and better defensive capabilities than Brawler/Berserker.
  • if you want a good beginner class, i heard ninja and cannoneer are pretty good for DPS. though both are race locked.
