Well, I think from the general opinion, the charcoal is already in the boxes. In the shape of pig mounts, mp innerwear and feedstock/spellbind xD!

Jokes aside, I'd be happy getting those boxes regardless of the poopy rng, it means somone spent their hard earned money on me, regardless of the prizes you get. So towards the giver, I'd always be grateful. Honestly though I agree with you Zoknahal, the rewards are far grater for the person sending the boxes. But at the same time, some may not see it that great to get twice the same mount, or in general recolors of already existing items, like the gym stuff and the plasma weapon skins. Then again for me, account mount also adds greater value to those items.

@counterpoint Just because the EMP value of these prizes are good, and most of these prizes are lootbox rares, doesn't mean they're ACTUALLY good. Like you said, the player-perceived value of a lot of these prizes isn't that great, and that can't be ignored. The POINT of these boxes is to give them to other players. There's not much point in giving these to other players if they're not going to like it. With the other lootboxes, there was so much more stuff you could get that was very good in terms of player value. The feedstock, alkahest, and spellbind prizes were much more valuable in the previous events, and there were also Blessed Enigmatic Scroll Prizes, which would be a very valuable jackpot still. Along with most of the mounts being made worthless due to the high demand for dragons, this makes a lot of the prizes in the lootbox simply not that valuable for the majority of Tera players. I do agree with you that they should replace the mounts with costumes, though.

For you guys who are defending these boxes, saying that people should be in the spirit of giving and buying these boxes anyway, and that what it gives shouldn't matter... why do I need to buy these boxes to be in the spirit of giving? Like I stated earlier, I'm still going to be giving people gifts, just not these ripoffs. I myself can give people gifts that I know will actually be good, unlike most of the stuff that's in these boxes (and GOOD LUCK winning one of the prizes that are actually good). If you respect your dignity as a paying TERA player, you will NOT buy these gift boxes, because most of the stuff it give DOES NOT justify the hefty price tag. With the earlier wintera boxes, your recipients had a VERY good chance of getting something valuable when considering the price of the box. Not the case with these.
  • I liked the look of the cycle mounts, especially the black jetcycle. The skycycle would have cost $400 while the jetcycle cost $200. So I bought 10 gifts, asked who wanted them in area chat, gave them out to the first 10 that responded, and got my cycle mount. I did that for 2 reasons: It was account bound (would not have done it if it was character bound.) and I think it looks cool.

If you see a Baraka mystic inside a gym outfit and santa hat riding over your head with his black jetcycle doing flips in the air that's me. xD
  • Did anyone got the 50k and 100k EMP? Or anyone missed it?

    It's 5k and 10k.

The prizes are actually 50k and 100k per this. Of course, though, they're rare. We did see a handful of winner on the forum last year.

  • I was completely prepared to drop $400 this year on gifts ontil Tri and others on MT pointed me to this Thread and the Gift box rewards.. Urm yeah, nope hell nope. 33 different prizes for my friends.. Not overly fond of the rng in that. More to the point for $400 bucks I get what?!!! 10 and 20 gifts are the same just re-colors and 15 is cool.. The rest is junk.

I could understand it if 10 and 20 were like 1.5x crit power and 2x crit power with the jet rng in the gift boxes being 2x crit power. This how ever is worthless to me and any of my friends, not to mention so many others.

The typo was the 5k and 10k at the bottom, it was changed to 50k and 100k.
  • @KeyVahn Thank you for this. We can give all the feedback we want about these boxes, but in the end, it's going to be the sales that matter most to EME. Hopefully, by people refusing to buy these boxes, EME will actually take a look at the feedback we are giving for these boxes.

However, if people buy these boxes anyway, I guarantee you, this will be the direction that future Wintera lootboxes head. EME will figure "well, these boxes still sold well", and, for the most part, ignore any feedback they receive. Sales are their first and foremost priority. Feedback is secondary. They will only take our feedback seriously if the sales obligate them to. Find other ways to bring holiday cheer to your fellow Tera players, but for the love of god, don't buy these boxes.

The prizes are honestly quite lackluster compared to last year's boxes. But I honestly think they're trying to scrape up the last little bit of cash they can milk from the dying cow. They didn't even bother with proper descriptions.

If they actually put in sought after items, like Felicity, Elin Chamber & Parlor Maid Uniforms, Plum Blossom Dress, and so forth, more people might actually be willing to buy these things.

i want to at least, give the people i send the gifts, something more than just the gift: Kindness. If people accept it, then i Happy.
i can make you happy. u just need to send to my castanic gunner 'castanica demons outfit'. i dont wanna buy it for 160k gold on broker. i will gladly accept your gift. in return i promise to pray for your health and wealth. :)

edit - ok. just joking. i can pray for your health without a gift. hue hue hue hue

u pay 100K for golden box, and then get a 15K innerwear instead, so I suggest, just buy the outfit instead lol

2500 EMP for each Golden Gift box is way too much, It would have been way better if it was 1450 I think. EME or BHS I don't know which one set the price didn't think about most players, just some rich kids with spirit of spending lots of money on junks B)

Not cool EME, Not cool :D

You make a lot of good points, but regarding the elite being more expensive, people legitimately didn't mind because they weren't buying it for the elite back then. I knew people who bought those in bulk; they did it to give gifts to their friends (because the gifts were apparently decent back then), and they saw the elite as a happy bonus. Anyone who bought those things just for the elite was of course wasting their money. It was like a "buy 7 pencils, get the 8th pencil free" sale. If you only wanted to buy one in the first place, you'd be an idiot to buy 7 just to get the 8th free. But if you're already buying 7 anyway, then the 8th free one is like icing on the cake.

I really think people wouldn't complain as much about the rewards if the items received by their friends weren't garbage so often. Once it stops being about giving your friends nice things, all that's left are the reward incentives -- and those are terrible, which certainly isn't new, but now it's all that's keeping the event together so there is more focus on it.
